What is the manufacturing date for these cells?

It is difficult to provide a date, as it is dependent on when it is purchased. However, our battery cells are fairly fresh and typically manufactured within the last 6 months of when customers purchase them.

I would like to know. Am I suppose to remove the sleeve protectors when I solder? Or are they suppose to melt away in the area of the solder point?

If you are making a battery pack with multiple cells, you must be careful not to remove or melt any of the plastic sleeve away as they provide the electrical insulation necessary to put the individual cells together to form a multi-cell battery pack. If more than one cell is soldered together and the metal cases of these cells touch each other, you are effectively shorting out at least one of the cells. You should go on line and read as much information as you can about methods you should use relating to methods for doing soldering on these types of cells.

What charge rate does the manufacturer recommend for the 2200 mah batteries?

Interesting question. Typically, for the best longevity of a rechargeable battery the charge rate should be around 1/10 of the capacity (minus the "h) for about 12-14 hrs. However, unless you have a microprocessor controlled charger be very mindful of the battery temperature during charging especially if charging at higher rates above 1/4C. If it starts getting warm or hottish, stop charging. A general rule of thumb is to multiply the capacity # by 1.4 then divide by the charging current to get the charge time. DO NOT leave a battery plugged into a wall-wart (transformer type charger that does not have an automatic standby mode) continuously. This can wreck a battery. When I was flying a lot of Radio Controlled craft I used to put my wall wart chargers on simple appliance timers so that they came on twice a day for an hour or so to keep my packs topped off.

I want to replace 8 sub-c 1500mAh batteries in a Dirt Devil vac. Do you think these 2200mAh will supply to much power? Tks

I replaced the 8 original 1500mAh sub-C batteries in a Dirt Devil with the Tenergy 2200mHa replacements. Aside from the slight difficulty in getting the 8 new cells lined up properly, everything fit. I used the original Dirt Devil Charger to charge the batteries. After the batteries were charged, the Dirt Devil worked as new. I can't say that it had more power than when it was new but the charge seems to last longer. The removal and replacement took about an hour but I might be a bit slow. If you are comfortable soldering, this is a great way to get extended use from this vacuum. By the way, the Tenergy batteries I have used seem to have a slight charge which can be disconcerting if one accidentally turns on the power switch when re-installing batteries. Please don't ask how I know this. Good luck.
