There are obviously more IDIOTS out there than even I thought? I read all of the reviews before I made my purchase but might just as well have not wasted my time in doing so?Not a good board finish? Flimsy inside? Different shaped pieces? Cost £47 is this guy real? Discolouration of some pieces? Poor cardboard packaging, what?Let me give you a real and positive review about this product. I ordered it with the longest delivery date to avoid the postage, it was to arrive between the 3rd and 5th, of January, no problem as it was not a Christmas present. It arrived Christmas eve morning the 24th, December 2016 at 11am, perfect although not expected, so well done the supplier.Having read all of the previous reviews (at the time all 9 of them) I scrutinised the board before opening it to reveal the pieces, it was perfect, very good joints, hinges, surface, corners and catches etc. The pieces were identical in size, colour etc. The green cardboard box the set was in was strong and well presented, who cares about the box you through away as long as the item inside is OK and ours was perfect. For under £30 you can not go wrong, looking forward to our first game.Anybody looking for a chess set at a very reasonable price, do not hesitate to purchase this one. Ignore the IDIOTS they just like making a fuss over nothing in the hope of a full refund, just like some passengers on a cruise liner?

Purchased this item as a decorative object, as part of a collection of furniture and nicknacks bought to tart up a somewhat spartan flat for sale. It's clearly not best quality, but it's perfectly presentable and looks much nicer than other sets sold with the board printed on the wooden box, that are marketed at higher prices in some high street stores.If you're looking for a premium, high quality set then you need to part with a lot more money (I know, I own one,) but if you just want a starter set, a kids' set, a spare e.g. for a caravan, or are otherwise wanting to buy on a budget - and you want something just a little nicer than a folding card board and plastic pieces - then this could be the product for you.

48x48cm chess board and Staunton 5 figures ordered as per product description but received only 41x41cm board and Staunton 4 chess figures. The quality of the board and chess figures is okay but a full size smaller. Unable to contact dealer Albatros directly, Amazon only allows to return board for refund. I would have agreed to keep board for an appropriate price recduction but Amazon doesn't offer to contact dealer directly.

Loved this chess board as I bought it for my 6 year old boy. The pieces are big and well grooved and very sturdy. The board is good and has withstood children stepping on it. It’s not built with flimsy plywood like many online sets are. Nice lacquering on the board and pieces. Lovely set and hope to keep it fir years. Only thing that let’s it down is the inside piece holder is a bit of tacky plastic with green faux felt lining. Great board highly recommended but the company could do better with holding the pieces inside in a better way.

Tournament No.4 Staunton European Wood Chess Set is described as 9cm King and 48cm Board.BEWARE - this is incorrect.The actual product is 8cm King and 41cm Board.What's in a cm ?A lot !I particularly wanted a 9cm King for serious league play. This product is inadequate.
