Excellent coffee and excellent value
I've been drinking this coffee for about three months now, and it's no exaggeration to say this is the best coffee I've ever had.I got hooked on Ethiopian coffee from another coffee brand, and went looking for a product that was more within my budget. With the Subscribe and Save option, this ends up being only $9.50 per pound, which is nearly unbeatable, especially for organic and fair trade. What I like about the Ethiopian coffee -- and especially THIS coffee -- is the delicate flavor and the fact that it doesn't make me jittery at all. I realized my "jitters" from coffee were almost always because of mold contamination, not caffeine content. Ethiopian coffee is grown at a high altitude and is much less likely to be moldy. This coffee leaves me feeling really good, with no jitters or sour tummy. The flavor is almost sweet, not bitter.I prefer to grind my beans very fine and do a modified pour-over. I get a rich color and flavor without any bitterness or sourness from over- or under-extraction. The beans themselves are small, matte brown, and uniform. No discoloration, bug holes, broken beans, or debris. All around, a great coffee so far.

☕ Good American coffee, without American coffee taste
Probably the closest an American coffee comes to tasting like the coffees I've had while living in Europe, visiting Africa, and growing up in Hawaii. A personal favorite, drink hot and black, a nice slightly bitter and citrus taste, goes well with rye toast w butter, and eggs. Also good for causally sipping in social settings, very chill tasty coffee

Dark, Rich, Delicious, Smooth, Wonderful Aroma, The Best Coffee I've Found On Amazon So Far!
Lately I've been trying a lot of different coffees on Amazon. Some ground, some whole bean and a bunch of K-Cups. Most of them tend to be more expensive than this, they have some claim to fame or some added flavoring and most were fair to disgusting with a few being pretty good.Out of all those I tried, this Barrie House Espresso Roast, is by far the best and the only one I've actually gone back and purchased. All the above coffees came through the Amazon Vine program. This is pretty dark, it is super rich, is has a wonderful aroma and goes great with a flavored creamer. This is the kind of coffee that can give you a reason to get out of bed in the morning and bring a warm smile to your face as you smell it brewing and then sip it or gulp it down on the way out the door. It's a bit more expensive than something like the New England line of coffees which were my go to brand but this is well worth a few extra bucks for such an awesome coffee.

Great tasting Coffee, good quality too
This Vanilla Coffee arrived well packaged and quick, good seller. This is a good quality coffee the makers have been around for 100 years and it's still family owned and operated. When brewing it smells so good! I've recommended this coffee to quite a few friends and family. Great flavor, no tartness - just the wonderful taste of vanilla coffee.

Sumatra???
Not rich, dark and syrupy as described, but instead milder. Takes more coffee than usual for a nice cup. We drink Sumatra on a regular basis. This coffee is not characteristic of Sumatra coffee. Disappointed.

Barrie House (decaf and organic)
The fragrance is warm and inviting. The taste is abundant. I appreciate the value and quality. Most coffees are barely noticeable without getting your nose in the bag. I freeze this to keep it just the way I received it!

Good Coffee, Nicely Roasted
Looking for an excellent cup of coffee with bright aromas, excellent flavor and a satisfying finish, I bought this Barrie House Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Single Origin Whole Bean Coffee, to try it as both a coffee that might be complete as is, or one that I might enjoy as a blend with others.I first tried it by itself, burr ground and drip style brewed. It was satisfying and I would rate it about 6-7 on a 10 point scale, with 10 as the most satisfying and 0 as the least. I then tried blending it about 35% with a Sumatran 35%, 15% medium roast Guatemalan, 10% medium dark Italian roast, and 5% Starbucks Dark French Roast. That blend adds additional body, some more flavor nuances, and a hint of dark smokiness. I'll continue to try variations to further enhance the aroma and maybe increase the Italian to 15 %, dropping the Sumatran to 30%.The search for a perfect cup is an ongoing adventure. This coffee is good by itself, but also makes a good blender.
