Surprisingly I found myself reading the introduction and then the baking tips rather than diving straight in to scan through recipes. I liked the tips and especially that Benjamina encouraged her US readers to buy scales as grams are more accurate than cups etc. So I must admit to being disappointed that Benjamina uses 'All purpose flour' - an American term (without explaining why/how in her baking tips) - I'm so used to self-raising flour in cakes that I'm almost nervous to use plain flour (UK)! I have not tried to bake any of the cakes yet; all the joy is yet to come!

Very impressed
When I read the reviews I was thinking they all sound too good to be true, but honestly even though I own over 120 cookbooks, and the majority of them are dessert cookbooks, I was veeery impressed with how many new things I learned in this one. So many interesting flavour combinations, can’t wait to try some of them! I never thought of making burnt honey buttercream, like wow! Very very good book, I absolutely recommend it

New and refreshing recipes with beautiful styling
Absolutely adore this book!! I love the fact that there are so many unique recipes that I haven’t seen before and it really goes beyond the standard cakes that we’re all used too. Very flavour forward which I appreciate. The styling is fresh and minimal, there’s not a lot of clutter that distracts from the stunning images. I made the apple, sage and caramel cake which was simple to follow and tasted fantastic.This book is perfect if you’re genuinely looking for something new and exciting!

Delicious Flavour Combinations and Beautifully Written!
One of the most exciting baking books I've bought this year - there are several recipes I can't wait to try, with some absolutely delicious sounding flavour combinations. It's great to read a cookbook on cake without the usual sickly salted caramel/chocolate fudge and tonnes of buttercream icing. Gorgeous photos with very clear instructions, and lovely 'feel' to the book. My colleagues at work will be very in the next few weeks.

I love that the book opens and stays open, great design. Makes it easier to follow a recipe.The book is well thought out and the best bit - images for every item so you know how it should look.Really cool and different recipes looking forward to trying more
