This is one of those things that is just better purchased in person. I ordered two, both arrived damaged, and had to 'request' a refund. This is classified as a 'food item' and not eligible for your typical refund. Chat session was easy, and of course, the staff at Amazon was very quick and efficient. They offered to send two more. Unfortunately, both of those arrived broken as well. Now, this isn't UPS or Amazon's fault, it is the nature of the product. The salt stone cracked along the 'fault' lines. Perhaps better wrapping would help, but the merchant clearly tries. The box that it shipped in (Amazon classification) only allows for front, back and side padding. This item needs top and bottom at a minimum.Again, great customer services across the board. However, this just isn't a product built for individual shipping.

The block itself is a nice size and very heavy. It comes with a nice canvas bag that zips up tight and has hefty carry handles. But the packaging it was shipped in was pathetic. Box was double the size of the block and there were two pieces of cardboard paper waded up in the box. When it arrived the outside of the box had no damage but one corner of the block was chipped off. About a 2"x2" chunk. I contacted Amazon and they were awesome. Promptly refunded my money and told me to keep the block since it was non-returnable. I can live with the chip, especially with that kind of service, but if it was a gift I would've been disappointed.

This item arrived in a huge box with inadequate packing material. One side of the box was totally popped open, and the block (in a canvas bag) was on the bottom with protection only on the top. What a disappointment seeings that others have complained of this. Was hoping it would be corrected by this time, but I was wrong. The block is AWESOME! It's very thick! Would be great for cooking with, but it only rates three stars because it didn't get here in one piece.

I gave these in the 8x12x2 for hostess gifts at Christmas, along with the 8x12 tray, brush to clean it, case to store it, and a recipe book. I didn't fully unwrap them, but they appeared to have arrived intact (I will have to check back with the gift recipients to confirm). I was disappointed to see they come pre-packaged in a linen storage case. Had this been disclosed in the description could have avoided purchasing the black case (light material, where you can see what's there, is always better than black). Anyway, they were a hit as a gift. I will update this review (if poss) when I get feedback from the gift recipients.

The salt block itself is a nice size, very heavy and 2" thick. It came with a nice canvas bag that zips up tight and has carrying handles. It worked great on my glass top electric range, with 1/2” steel spacers between the stone and the salt block. I cooked shrimp and steak which turned out perfect and had a great taste without having applied any other seasonings. A great value with free shipping.

I was looking forward to the delivery of the Salt Block. When it came, one corner of the box it was delivered in was torn open and a large piece of one corner was broken completely off. Another corner was also damaged. The Salt Block was wrapped in bubble wrap but it wasn't protected enough. The block itself is beautiful and should serve me well. I would have been happier with it if it had arrived unbroken.

Great concept & look forward to using the salt brick one day. If you decide to buy, insist on sufficient packaging. Although customer service tried to fill the order twice, brick arrived cracked or damaged due to insufficient packaging & weight of brick.

I grilled some salmon on this for the first time. It was incredible tasting. My wife was sceptical when it arrived in the Amazon box. However, now the proof is delivered in the taste of the fish. I look forward to trying Chicken on the salt stone. Make sure you give the salt stone 10 min on the grill to heat up before you apply the meat.

looks like mine had a crack half way through the block. Heated it up nice and slowly on the bbq over 45min, and it sheered right along the hair line crack. Blocks have tons of hair line cracks throughout.
