Provides quality reception, but has remote control and other issues
The product was packaged so well that I was totally unable to remove it from the manufacturer's box without ripping the box apart. The manual accompanying it was small, and the print was so very tiny and so nearly impossible to read that it seemed as though you needed to be an ant with a telescope in order to read it. When I did manage to get it set up properly, picture quality was great so that was a strong plus for the product. However, the remote control to operate this digital converter box was a terrible nightmare to use. It was difficult to get it to the menu selections I wanted, and somehow, without knowing how this happened, all of the channels I could get were locked and it was impossible for me to unlock them, so I was unable to view anything I was supposed to be receiving at all because of that, not to mention the only way I could tell that everything was locked was that I wasn't able to access everything because the functions in the menu above that particular area were actually impossible for me to access, and each one of them in that particular section were colored in such a way that it was impossible to discern whether they were or were not highlighted. If the manufacturer could improve that portion of menu usage and have provided a more user friendly remote control, I would recommend this. However, even though I placed the box in a very ventilated location, it did overheat, there were many warnings about this product overheating, and sometimes when it was hot when I did use the remote control, it made popping noises (so that's how I found out the product was hot - and it wasn't even occurring during a time of extensive usage.

Combined with an HDMI splitter to connect to two TV's
After 6.5 years my Tivo OTA recorder died so I was looking for an economical replacement to sync and time shift local broadcasts simultaneously onto 2 TVs (the device is connected to a HDMI splitter). The UI and remote both look dated but the set up was straight forward and picture quality on a 70" TV was as good as it is with the TV's built in tuner. The time shift (pause live TV) feature took a couple of minutes to figure out and it is a little clunky but it does work. Overall performance is totally acceptable given the price of the device and its intended occasional use.It has only been a couple of days but so far so good.Net/net - If you need an external ATSC tuner with multiple outputs with time shift and very basic DVR capabilities, are on a budget, don't need a slick looking UI and have basic troubleshooting skills this is worth considering.

Programmable recording has problems. Time will not stay current, and DVR recording in sporadic!
I like the idea that the program records in the device memory.

No complaints, and I like the 12v input
I liked my old HomeWorx better but it died and I needed a budget replacement, this fit the bill. Not much in the way of bells and whistles but it does what its supposed to, which is receive, record, or playback OTA TV. I've got no complaints, it bargain priced and it works. A particular plus is it can be directly powered from a 12v battery if your off grid or whatever (without inverter). It's just ok and it was worth the money.

Working so far.
This cost$25, so keep that in mind. Installation took a while since the antenna signal passthrough did not work. No HDMI is provided so bring your own. RCA type cables are included. Bring your own batteries for the remote (2 aa). I am using this with OTA external antenna. The internal clock loses time when in standby!?. The clock is corrected if the unit is brought online. Haven't recorded much yet, but my short test recording seemed OK.

Low quality
I also have another brand of digital tv converter box a that actually cost me a couple dollars less and there is no comparison. The pixPlus gets a 0 out of the 5 for the poor quality and poor reception. The Pixplus also has trouble broadcasting channels that the other brand are nice and clear. Delays in the correct display of the shows that are actually playing on the that channel at that time. There is no competition between the two and I am replacing the PixPlus with the other brand
