This device works perfectly. I use it on a Sony camcorder as a secondary camera. It works for me.

This review is for BlueAVS Audio Video Capture Cards HDMI to USB 1080p USB2.0 Record via DSLR Camcorder Action Cam with USB Extension Cable. Model number is BLAVCCUSB20IN. It works. The latency is near zero. It will do 60fps at 720p or less. It's really great as an entry capture card for a Twitch streamer who is just starting out (if you have an HDMI splitter also to get output to monitor). This will capture your 720p consoles at 60fps and output at the same. Higher resolutions are 30fps only. I was unable to test at 4K, but 2K did work @30fps. I read in another review that someone was unable to capture audio from this device in OBS. This does work, but not similar to Elgato devices. On the BlueAVS, the video and audio devices are separate and need to be added into OBS scenes individually. I used instructions I found in the comments of a YouTube video. 1) Plug in your console's HDMI into the video capture usb. 2) download OBS studio 3) In OBS under SOURCES, add an "audio input capture" and set DEVICE to "digital audio interface (USB digital audio)". Click OK. 4) Right click in the AUDIO MIXER, and select "Advanced audio properties" 5) here, go to "audio input capture" (the one we created in step 3), and set "audio monitoring" to "Monitor and output" You will now hear your console's sound. 6) in OBS under "sources", add a "video capture device". 7) In the properties for the just added video capture device set these options: - Set DEVICE to "USB video" - set RESOLUTION/FPSTYPE to "custom" - set RESOLUTION to 1280x720 - set FPS to 60

Fantastic way to use a old second laptop as a second monitor. Easy and efficient way to re-use an old computer instead of throwing it out as waste.

COMPATIBLE SOFTWARE: WINDOWS 10-YES VLC-SOMEWHAT- you will not be able to record with vlc, HOW EVER, you will be able to hear out of your speakers, if you are going to use this device for watching tv on your desk top then the quality is fine, BUT vlc will NOT allow for 1080p, you will need to settle for a lower resolution. OBS-yes-from what i have ben able to find out, not compatible with my set up for some reason, but from what i have heard it works well with it, you will need to make some adjustments to your system to hear out of your speakers and headphones; in windows 10: go to settings click on sound go to input click on device properties go to additional device properties click on the listen tab then click on the listen to this device box click apply then click OK from what i have ben able to find out, this will allow you to hear and record sound in OBS studio, this is all i have ben able to find out about this device, hope this helps. ******************************************* UPDATE: 9-14-2023 i have had it for a while now and i must give it another star it works ***BRILLIANTLY*** and there is more good news, i have found that it will work with an older program that i have , now notice i said that it WORKS with the program, i didn't say that it works perfectly with the program, BUT, there is a way around that: i use this to watch tv on my computer i use an HDMI cable to connect to my DIRECT TV genie NEXT i am running WINDOWS 10 PRO NEXT you will need to install VLC 3.0.18, or the most up to date version NEXT you will need to get ***honestech VHS to DVD 5.0 Deluxe*** i am not sure if they still make this, but it is what i am using and it works with this work around i do not know if this work around will work with the newer ones SO YOU HAVE BEN WARNED. NEXT when everything is installed and you want to watch tv on your computer and you launch the honestech video editor in ADVANCED MODE IN FULL SCREEN you will see and hear the the image, BUT, YOU WILL SEE IT IN A SMALLER VERSION WITH A PURPLE AREA ARROUND IT. ***THE WORK AROUND*** close the program and open up the VLC choose a video on a disk or a drive to watch then open up the honestech BUT, only to the point you see the three selections EASY WIZARD MODE-ADVANCED MODE-AUDIO RECORDER then go back to the VLC and play the selected video for 1 minute, then after the 1 minute has passed keep playing the video and go to the honestech and select the ADVANCED MODE open the viewer and you will see the that the screen no longer has the purple area and everything is normal, double click the image to see it full screen and it is a very good image and very watchable. when you have the honestech image the way you want it, you can close the VLC, you will find the honestech image to be sharper than the VLC. NOTE: even if you were ok with it with the purple on the screen you could still record the on screen video and there WOULD NOT be and purple on the recording it would just look normal
