Hiltex 10005 HSS Silver and Deming Industrial Drill Bit Set (8 Pieces), 1/2" (1)

I went to two local big box stores looking for traditional drill bits sizes up to 15/16”. I was surprised that I couldn’t find anything sized even close to what I was looking for. So I went to Amazon and found these Hiltex Silver & Deming bits. The package shipped quickly and when it arrived I was pleased to find that it came in nice wooden protective box. The box has a golden metal latch. I’ve never received drill bits secured in a nice box like that before, so I was kind of shocked when I opened the package. Inside, each bit was wrapped in its own heavy plastic sleeve and they sat on a black foam mat, each bit has its own little slot. Each slot is marked with the appropriate bit size. Based on the packaging, I think these bits will be easy to store and easy to find in the future. The bits worked just fine for the job I was doing, which was to drill larger holes through an aluminum door handle. Aluminum is not a huge test I know, but they seemed robust enough to do bigger jobs on heavier materials as well. So far I’m happy with my purchase.

I was impressed with both the quality and packaging of this set of drills. I had been looking to purchase a 5/8" bit and expected to pay around $20. Now I have a whole range of large bits at an exceptional price. Bought some cutting oil at the same time and the bits worked wonderfully, not "one and done" like most reasonably priced drill bits.

I needed a set of larger drill bits and ordered 2 sets of these. They come in a nice wooden box. Not real sure about the quality. The 9/16 bit bent the first time I used it, on the first set. I wasn't using it on anything that it should have caused it to bend. Other bits are working good so far. They are priced right.

Great bits for the price drilled many 1 inch holes in some 1 1/4 mild steel plates go slow use cutting oil and they seem to last if I were to buy this at homedepot one drill at a time it would be well over 200$ And those expensive bits don't seem to last longer the wooden box came damaged but some wood glue fixed that right up

When I have attempted to use in drill press, item I’m drilling gets yanked out of hand and destroyed. When attempting to use in handheld drill, drill is yanked out of hand(s) and item destroyed. Also got injured twice (once to wrist and fingers, once to chest and chin) when either the item I was drilling or the drill itself was yanked out of my hand(s) as a result of the bits being too aggressive. To make things worse, whatever you’re trying to drill through ends up damaged/bent/deformed with jagged edges and uneven surface ruining everything I’ve tried them on. I even tried using them on wood (hoping to avoid a total loss) and they would destroy the lumber. I’ve tried stepping up slowly with sizes, using exact size needed and even slowing and or speeding up the RPM of both types of drills. Also varied pressure and absolutely NOTHING made a difference. I’ve never experienced drill bits this bad (56 yrs old here). TOTALLY USELESS AND DANGEROUS ! A complete waste of money, waste of time and delayed original project I purchased them for. Hopefully this review will save others from making the same mistake.

Good large drill bits. Worked great for purpose I purchased them for. I used to drill bowling ball. If you purchase for this purpose use fairly slow speed. Do not drill a pilot hole I will repeat this do not use pilot hole. If you do they are very aggressive and will tear up ball. Drill press would help, but not necessary. Then clean up with Dremel type tool and sanding wheel, to bevel hole. Saved over cost of pro shop $40 for holes. Now I can drill balls for whole family. LOL

The bits work well and cut through aluminum without an issue. My reason for rating these 4 stars is because the listing says they come with a "nice" case, but in reality I received a square piece of foam with places cut out for the bits. It looks like a piece that should fit INSIDE of a ncie case. For some this may not be an issue, but I have a lot of stuff in my garage and organization is of the utmost importance. If I do anything but sit them flat the bits fall out of the case. It makes storing the bits a little harder, but they will sufice.

Por el precio son excelentes el acero ha mantenido bien su filo, vienen con mucha rebaba y los filos ásperos del proceso de fabricación así que no son para los que esperan algo premium pero los ángulos son los correctos y por el momento el acero ha mantenido su filo, un detalle los zancos reducidos a media vienen con escalones para las mordazas de chuck para que no patinen lo cual es muy bueno pero no te servirán si tu plan es usarlas en collets

I've drilled over 300 holes square tubing into 2mm/ 3/16 thick steel and haven't had to sharpen the drill yet. If you're drilling into steel just remember to use cutting compound and watch you feed rate ( pressure ) and these drills should be fine.
