Signature Sailor Feedback and Excellent Quality
Excellent steel nib fountain pen. The signature sailor feedback is very much present, which people either love or hate - I personally do like it.The pen feels good and comfortable to hold, and the screw ridge placement is not in the way or uncomfortable. It feels solid in your hand and not flimsy or cheap at all. It is definitely on the lighter side which is good for long writing sessions. The clip is OK - it is decent but could be slightly better. The cap screws and seals well. The pen is on the smaller size and feels better to use posted. I am a man with average sized hands and I can use it unposted but I would not recommend it. The weight also feels more balanced posted. The fine nib writes well and smoothly, but as expected can feel less smooth with dry ink and cheap paper. This combined with the feedback may be a dealbreaker for people looking for a smooth-as-glass experience. Note that Japanese fine nibs are about a size smaller than European fine nibs. I still do think that it is a great writer and would not call it 'scratchy' - I write for long hours without issue. The pen comes with two Sailor black ink cartridges. Very standard ink that can write well even on cheap paper, and dries quickly. You may want to consider using wetter inks to improve the smoothness. I would also recommend using good fountain pen paper if possible.I am using this pen for multiple hour long note taking sessions and carrying around and I am very happy with it. The size makes it very easy to carry around and the firmly sealing cap gives me peace of mind that it will not leak - not that I have had any issues with that. I also think that it looks great, the blue is a beautiful colour and the silver accents it very well, and the transparency is nice. I write even on cheap paper with it sometimes and I am happy with the experience.
