Yes a straw can be used, in fact it comes with a straw if I remember correctly. Also the grease is NOT too thick to use the straw.

Would ths work on a 60H chain on my 6 foot wide snowblower?

yes it will work good on chains

For overhead (coil) garage door in oceanfront environment, crc heavy duty silicone lubricant or crc marine white lithium grease?

Recommend the clopay garage door company lube base for that purpose. I've used lithium grease for the last 30 years and it does the job but the clopay lube is way better and quite the door rollers , chains, etc much better.
