Read by heart: sound & content like a modern Mentor
This book is a golden guide for my new professional start after a sabbatical / burnout! Although written in a rather relaxed way in the middle part, at the end the diverse advice builds up to a powerful content that reads like the advice of a great mentor with foresight. Everything that a personal coach could impart is mentioned - this type of coaching would be potencies more expensive in money and time. To read this book wholeheartedly, to mark it, to work through it, to write it out: that is already the first step on the path of a lifelong self-coaching, to which the book repeatedly guides. Especially at the end (9th chapter) I could hardly put the book down because I realized how valuable the practical implementation of the content is for a fulfilled (working) life in this technological age.

Does your definition of professional success help or hinder your happiness?
Whenever you are in your career, being aware of the culture of your organization and knowing your values are key elements to create a professional journey you truly enjoy. In my work as an executive coach, I often hear how motivation wanes if it is not nourished by an alignment between personal and company's values. It takes time to explore and reflect on these themes and this is also what I hear often: how to find time when each day feels so packed? This book has a very clear outline so it is easy to zoom to the relevant chapters for your present situation. A big plus when you only have a limited amount of energy left. How to find a place where you belong? How to find your bearings when you start? How to decide to stay or leave as the years go by?These are some of the chapters' headings; inside you find a wide and balanced mix of true stories, tools, bigger picture reflections and excellent questions.I regularly recommend to my clients this great book because it triggers deep and yet very practical ideas on how to succeed while staying true to who we are.

Career, happiness and true values. Can you have it all? Inspiring but also pragmatic. A must read!
For years many books have claimed to know the best and quickest way to succeed and live happily. While facing the topic of professional success and happiness, The Compass and the Radar belongs to a completely different category, addressing the issue from a radically different perspective and positioning itself on a level, in my opinion, definitely superior. The author in fact proposes a content of great depth, identifying in the compass that each of us has within himself, the essential starting point to ensure a professional and personal life of full satisfaction. As an extraordinary coach, Paolo Gallo is able to accompany us along this path, through practical and concrete examples, taken from a very rich set of life and work experiences, showing us, pragmatically, how the dimension of individual values and that of professional challenges can find their harmonic convergence, dispelling the belief (or the alibi) that in order to be successful you have to betray yourself or sell your soul to the devil. In this book, we find no guidelines to become what we are not in order to reach an aim considered desirable for everyone; on the contrary, we will find suggestions, exercises and reflections to understand what is intimately important to us and, from there, identify and achieve the goal that is desirable for us.
