Fun Star Wars recipe ideas!
This is a cool Star Wars-themed recipe book, with recipes inspired by places or characters from the Star Wars universe. There are 43 different recipes, divided into the following sections: Desert Worlds, Frozen Worlds, Green Worlds, Cities and Space Stations, and Swamp/Volcano/Mineral Worlds. Some of the recipes also are identified with one of three symbols:-A “Lightspeed” recipe, which means the prep time is 30 min or less.-A “Darkside” recipe, which are rich and indulgent treats.-A “Lightside” recipe, which are healthier recipes, with less sugar or calories. There are plenty of colorful, vivid pictures of the finished products, and the recipes are mostly pretty easy to follow. Some of our favorites so far have been: Sith Cookies, BB-8 Cakes, Hoth Cocoa Cream Puffs, and Imperial Devil's Food Brownies. We have had fun baking these tasty treats, and the kids were more interested in baking than they ever have been; thanks to the Star Wars references. Great fun!

Star Wars appeal, lackluster cookbook
I was super excited to get a cookbook to bake a bunch of exciting star-wars themed goodies. There's a couple neat recipes in here for sure. But there's also a lot of recipes that are just slapping some decorations on a box mix and calling it a "recipe." I've got allergies, so using boxed anything is not an option for me. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how to make a puff pastry. There's no recipe for it in the book, but there are at least 4 recipes that call for frozen puff pastries. Why not include a recipe to make your own puff pastry? This might be fun if you're looking for decorating some simple (or store bought) things with kids. There's also the star wars nostalgia factor. But if you're a serious baker, or looking for recipes to make things from scratch, keep looking.

Creative & Great Photos
My littlest daughter has a collection of cute cookbooks. When we recently fell in love with Star Wars, this book went on her Christmas list. It is professionally designed, printed and bound. The graphics and images are excellent. There is variety of skill levels. Every dessert has at least one photo if not more - which is a key point for my 9 year old. And every recipe has a description of how it fits into the story line. The snacks are not foods taken straight from the Star Wars movies but rather they are desserts that are themed after different worlds, cities and space stations (Forrest of Endor Log cake, Cloud City Marshmallows), or are designed in the style of a character (Sith Cookies), or could have been something the characters would have ate (Rey's Training Course Energy Bites). All great ideas for Star Wars themed parties. The only very slight con, is that the header font is a bit hard for a young reader to figure out. But as a graphic designer, I think it's perfect!
