NOW Foods Supplements, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) Powder, Supports Healthy Cartilage*, Joint Health*, 1-Pound

I have been taking this powder orally each morning when I rise and most nights before bed. After nearly one month I am very pleased with it. I think I may try an organic type of sulfur next time to see if there is a difference, but if there isn't I am coming back to this brand. Like their oils, I really like the "Now" brand a lot. I like how inexpensive this is since I wasn't sure how it would be to take a powder form of MSM. So some benefits I have noticed below. 1). my nails are growing like crazy. Probably sounds cliche, but I am a nail biter (nasty habit, I know), so that is saying a lot for me. My nails will likely take some time to be strong after and entire life time of biting, but I am noticing that even when I file them down they are growing back quickly. The normal growth that I would see in 30 days I am seeing in like maybe 2.5 weeks. So that is pretty exceptional. 2). I am only 32, but I have a family history of Arthritis and other joint-related issues. I have noticed that my joints feel less stiff and creeky (you know that noise they make when you walk up stairs, or sit or stand etc.) It has decreased by as much as 50% in my own opinion. I am working out too, but in the past nothing was helping as much. 3). Many people are commenting on how radiant my skin looks. I have nice skin, thanks to God and the genes He gave me, but I have noticed that my skin has a more healthy glow and less break out, even though because I am a person who works out and I sweat a lot, I usually have break outs on my face, chest and back, it NEVER fails and I just have had much of that in the last 30 days. 4). Very inexpensive and will last you for a long time. 5). I found no known affects that it would have with other medications during my research. I have heard this will also increase hair growth, but I can't comment either way. I have been keeping my hair braided because it is hot and I am lazy so I haven't seen much of my hair this summer. But if I notice anything out of the ordinary I will be sure to update. Potential Cons: 1). Bitter taste, but I chase it with water and sometimes a lemon because I have read taking it with vitamin C is better and makes it work more efficiently. The taste doesn't really affect me much. I'm pretty hard core so I take a teaspoon and put it directly in my mouth and then drink water. I have also put it in morning smoothies and my Spark Advocare drink, which is perfect because it is 100% of my daily vitamin C 2). I got some gnarly head aches a few times when taking this. I am 100% convinced that I didn't drink enough water those days. On average I was already drinking about 8-10 glasses per day before I started taking this so I wasn't worried about not getting enough water. During my research I read that it could be a problem, especially if you drink Alcohol (I maintain a strict alcohol-free lifestyle), if you are not getting enough H2O. Luckily I have only had a few days where I was running around and forgot my water bottle so I suffered the consequences, so please beware you need to drink water. Otherwise, I love this stuff and plan to continue using it as a daily supplement. The shipping was on time and what you see in the pictures is what you get!

I've been taking MSM powder off and on for the last 4 years. When I first began, it was after the birth of my son. I had been trying everything in the world to get rid of tiger-claw-like stretch marks all over my stomach, but nothing faded them from being bright red. Within a week of beginning to take this, my stretch marks faded enough for my then mother-in-law to make a comment about it. I didn't apply it topically (though I've heard of people doing that with some success–along with moisturizing)... I just took 2 heaping tablespoons mixed into a glass of water (may be too metallic for some tastes). It's funny it worked out like that, because I actually began taking it for my knees and hips. At the (then) tender age of 22, I had found out that my right knee had about 1/3 of the cartillage it should, and my hips had virtually none. My left knee was on it's way to matching my right knee. The pain was pretty intense and unexpected. I had always thought that I clicked and clacked because that's what people do, right? Ha. I can tell you that after a month of doubling my dosage of this powder, I was able to run again, with very little pain, and far less clicking and clacking. The craziest thing was that without even thinking about it, this also helped my skin tremendously. After having a baby, I had unpredictable hormonal acne. Some parts of my face were dry and peeling, other parts were oily and breaking out–and I had perfect porcelain skin my whole life up to this point. I was very distressed by this. I would change what I ate, use topical lotions, etc. I had some success with coconut oil cleansing routine, but it wasn't perfect. Drinking this powder, in combination with a coconut oil moisture routine, completely cleared up my acne in about 5 days. Not only did it clear up, but I swear to you that wrinkles disappeared, dark circles from under my eyes were gone... Even the breakouts and dry skin on my arms disappeared. It was like a godsend. I think every body is different, and don't advise taking a lot to start with. Feel it out. Give it a couple of weeks. If you feel some indigestion from it, you need to drink more water and probably some healthy fats. I drink it after I work out every morning, and sometimes a second time later in the day. It has also seemed to alleviate PMS cramping, and migraines. I've only ever used NOW Foods MSM, and I don't plan on changing. Why try to fix something that works incredibly well?

After researching and listening to my YouTube curly girl fave - Curly Proverbz, I decided to purchase this. I bought the pills before but had trouble downing them, tastes icky. But since I've been mixing a 1/2 tsp 2x a day with my Sparkling Ice drinks, I've been seeing and feeling results! 1. I don't taste the bitterness when I mix with Sparkling Ice. Major Plus! 2. The inflammation in my body is gone. I would have scalp inflammation, spontaneous scalp bleeding, and hair loss. I was diagnosed with a rare alopecia that they only gave me steroids for. My scalp no longer is painful to touch, no longer bleeding, no longer red and inflamed, I'm so grateful. No inflammation means scalp can heal and my follicles have a chance to grow! Words can't describe how good it feels to have a pain free scalp again! Also I would wake up in the morning with slight puffiness in my face and around my eyes, this no longer happens and it's a confidence boost seeing and knowing that I'm making progress towards combating whatever is causing inflammation in my body.

We are now on our third bottle of this product. I'm one of these people who weights products. If it says one pound, I will weigh it to make sure I get my one pound. All three bottles did weigh a hair over one pound. The powder does settle so when you open it, it looks about only half-full. Further, most manufacturers selling powders use standard size bottles as to do so is cheaper. Thus while this bottle could hold more than a pound of MSM for sure, it must be the cheapest standard bottle size for the one pound in it. I give it four stars only because I have no experience with other brands of MSM. There may be better ones out there, I do not know. But until I have some comparison experience I give it four stars. My wife takes it too. Neither of us have had any reactions to it. We take it as at our age ( both over 60) we know that our bodies no longer make enough of certain essentials, and that our GI tract is not so effective. Since sulfur is a very necessary element for almost all cells in our bodies, we take this. It is added to a mix of 15 other powders we take daily. We make our own supplements when we can because it is so much cheaper to do so. Our fingernails and hair are in very good shape, and we have no medical problems. Thus I personally conclude that at worse this product is not harming us, and at best it sure is helping. I suspect that the truth is somewhere in between, as is the case for most other supplements. I plan on continuing to take MSM, whether it's this brand or not, I can't say, other than I will keep using this one unless I read of a better product, or a better way to get all the daily sulfur we need. Yes, taken by itself in water or juice it does taste horrible. But remember, this is sulfur! What can one expect! That is why we mix it well with other things. If you want to make it taste better get a bottle of NOW liquid mint flavored chlorophyll and add that to the water. The mint really helps and the chlorophyll is a good thing to take as well. If you use the chlorophyll don't be shocked if your stools are a bright green. Remember that chlorophyll is what makes tree leaves green and it is a powerful natural green dye.

This stuff is great! It helps renew skin and decrease inflammation. It is anti-aging. The price and quality are good. I highly recommend this product and will 100% be buying it again, to take daily.

You have to be careful with how much you start off with. It's very over powering at least to me. Please consult your doctor before consuming.
