Batman’s supporting cast is conflicted and it’s intense
One of the best Batman stories to come out of Rebirth.

Still among the best Rebirth titles, and that's saying something
The first book of Rebirth's Detective Comics was one of my favorites in the revamp, so ordering volume 2 was a no-brainer. And once again, this book is holding strong. The Victim Syndicate follows pretty directly from the emotional impact of the events in volume 1, with the characters still very clearly trying to cope. Being Gotham City, of course, they hardly get the chance, as a new villain team pops up, and chaos ensues. The villain team is very interesting, especially just how grotesque the Victim Syndicate appears. Tynion manages to balance this aspect quite well for both horror and tragedy, making you feel sympathy for the bad guys while still seeing how clearly they have crossed a line. The focus on our hero team is slighty shifted around as well. One of my few nitpicks with the first book was a relative lack of attention on Spoiler, which this book very quickly picks up the slack on. Stephanie Brown gets most of the new focus here, and it all feels justified within the context of the story. Clayface also gets more character-building, and is presented in such a way that I don't think I'll be able to see him as a true "villain" in other works because of the way it is handled. It's very well-done. New faces to this series Batwing and Harper Rowe serve a little more as supporting characters, especially to Batwoman and Stephanie, respectively, and Azrael continues to get brief but memorable moments, leading me to suspect he will be important down the road. Batwoman, this time around, has her own sub-plot, but within the Victim Syndicate plot, is not quite as central as the first arc; however, the last couple of chapters in the book focus primarily on her, so she isn't getting the short end of the stick. The big thing is simply just how very well-done this all is. Even the less-used characters feel important to the plot. The emotion that carries the book is genuine. The philosophical ideas tossed around are key to the proceedings instead of just window dressing, like some superhero stories tend to do. Simply, this book is a finely-tuned machine. You need to read this series.

In the Bat-family another one turns sour post Red-hood
Be prepared to take a ride or two back to the past and then back to the the present. There’s some very kool surprises and flash back moments in this. Savored it….good stuff. Also a bit of a tragedy; not every kid grows up to make papa proud.Had to expect an egg or two go bad sooner or later in the Bat-fam bunch. Probably a good idea to read to see when another bites the dust and goes down in history in the Batfamily with another one to turn sour post Red-hood. Smell that? Its not the smell of ham. Smells like ..... rotten eggs and .....Purple cowl. Anotha' one down for the countBe prepared for some pheromone drama. Might be one or two Bat fambam on their period in this.I mean I get it they’re all grieving from the red. It’s just a bit enduring. One Bat family member grieving over the loss of another…. Spoiler Alert: Someone in the family to actually challenge against Batman and 3 others? Not sure if I believe that would happen. No sarcasm. Those are some mad pheromones But amenInteresting take in the aftermath of the last Detective Comics. The Detective Comics #948 Variant cover was badass. Digged itThis TP has a handful of villains rising up saying they’ve had enough of the Gotham Butllshit and take a final stand in this. We want the cape and cowl hero to shut the buck up and lower the mantle; stop your fighting, make like a tree and get outta here'...... They want the villains of Gotham to finally see an end to the war between monstrous villains and the Bat bizz. Look out they come prepared with a handful of Kool characters/ fallouts from Basil Karlo, Scarecrow, Joker Toxin, and Poison Ivy. Threats are made and they run enough of the show to keep the Bats and the gang at bayWhat they did right was the opening Splash Page to Part One. You see a powerful image that is badass and the creators a did really good job set the tone for an enjoyable read right from the beginning for me.Batwing was mentioned in this I was like "Batwing? Batwing? Who the hell is Batwing? Batwing…hmm Lucias Fox Batwing or his son Batwing?"Love how Detective Comics has moments where they are digging a little deeper on the Red Robin wound after The Rise of the Batmen in this. They did a good job of putting a little more salt in the wound. It’s not just a pinch of salt too, it’s like those 1lb cylinder Morton iodized salt containers just poured upside and the top just falls off engulfing the plate
