Double Wood Supplements HMB Supplement, Third Party Tested, Non-GMO, Gluten Free, 120 Capsules, 1000mg per Serving, 500mg per Capsule

Well, I'm never the first on on the band wagon when it comes to supplements or new drugs for my patients. I typically let others and their patients be the ginney pigs. I limit my own supplements due to my age and time in my sport. Found myself in my 50s with two new babies and feeling gravity. In my mind still indestructible at 245, strong as a bull, thought I'd easily just cut back on the diet and up the aerobics. All started well, but the weight took with it more of the strength than I wanted but I had no choic, I had longer recovery times though I know a thing or two bout nutrishion. I have a buddy who was an Olympic coach and a sport science guy, did all the pre and post whey with glutamine, overall I did pretty good down to about 210 and 4 years later. I have this weight lifting mental condition you know, most of us daily guys that have lifted over 40 years know this. I feel like a weak s*** if I can't at least rep 315 for 2-3 and leg press a grand. So I had seen this supplement for a few years HMB, and not done my due diligence, nor did I relate it to my situation until I had a drug rep lunch in my office. Seems that the medical research had shown people on chemo that have muscle wasting retained more muscle when this supplement was added. Remember my mental condition, I thought I am starving myself to lean out but want to in that low calorie senecio retain more muscle, this motivated me to do my due diligence and read up on HMB, thought well it can't hurt, any way I am about 3 weeks in I have only lost down to 202 but feel like I have gained a little strength back. I have also shared my thoughts with two other old guys that are in the same boat of losing weight and trying to retain as much muscle and strength as possible. Overall it has good science behind it, still need to feed the muscle and stimulate it to adapt.Sincerely Rocko

I've taken just about every kind of pre-workout on the market but lately I’ve been trying to kick all the unnatural and harmful chemicals that comes with them. After trying many different clean supplements I found that taking only HMB double wood’s L-glutamine, and essential amino acids before my workouts, works the best. I am in excellent shape at 44, and I’m now lifting more than Ive ever lifted in my life. Most importantly, I don’t have to worry about ingesting harmful chemicals!

However, they did not attempt to influence the review at all.I am an experienced weightlifter, and I delayed this review as long as I could. The main reason for this is that it takes a while for the effects of HMB to be recognized. Generally, it is known that BCAA (and leucine in particular) are useful for lean mass production. Studies have shown that HMB is quite good, but it is uncertain if it is any better than direct leucine.The current belief is that HMB is most beneficial when calorie intake is low. I will say that my observations agree with this. I have been on a calorie restricted diet for several months (having dropped more than 50 pounds in the past 15 months) - and I have gone through a bottle plus a bit more in the last month or so. The ideal dosage is probably much higher than represented on the bottle; HMB has a short half life, and three grams is what is noted in research papers. So taking 500mg capsules spread out is the best way to take it. (Read up on your own - don't take my word for it)At this point I can state the following about this product;1) The quality of the capsules and packaging are excellent. Sometimes you buy a product and you get loose powder or broken capsules. Not so with this product.2) I have had no ill effects at all - no stomach issues, etc.3) HMB is also credited with helping recovery, etc., but I never had issues with this in the first place, so it is hard for me to say if it helps. I also take a significant dose of fish oil which is also good for inflammation / recovery.4) With an average of 1500 net calories per day (I currently weigh ~ 210lbs with 14% body fat), I continue to lose body fat and gain lean muscle mass.My plan is to go through at least another bottle or two and see how it goes. If I do decide to continue with HMB supplementation, I will purchase this particular product again. HMB is not a magical substance - you need to train, eat right and use some key supplements (e.g., fish oil, vit D, BCAA). This can help if you want to maintain muscle mass while eating at a deficit.

I was looking for something to help my aging mother, and I found HMB. I decided to try it myself. It was almost 2 years ago. I was surprised to see the result so fast; I gained 1/3 of an inch in my upper arm muscles in one week. (At that time I was 63).I usually don't write reviews, but I'm writing this positive review after reading negative comments on Calcium form of HMB. (This product is CA form).There are two kinds of HMB - The calcium salt (CA) and free acid form (FA). Recently FA form of HMB is touted to have more bioavailability, but be aware, not enough human studies have been done to justify this. CA form of HMB has a long history and many many studies have done to prove the efficacy of it for both athletes and elderly. AND HMB (CA) has many more positive and impressive customer reviews.After stopping HMB, I've kept losing my muscles even after increasing my exercise, so I will start it again. I am interested in trying the powder form, so I may not start this brand at this point, but may come back to it later. Since I had a good experience, I thought I should write my positive review. Thanks for developing a fine product!

I am sure this is a very good supplement, but the pills are way too big. I am having a hard time swallowing them.
