Champ and Major: First Dogs Hardcover – Picture Book, January 19, 2021

Champ and Major: First Dogs, has something import to tell readers - their human dad has an important job as the new President of the United States. Champ had visited the White House when dad was Vice President. At that time Champ used to play with Sunny and Bo, the Obama's dogs. Major was adopted in 2018 after the Biden's fostered him and then adopted him from a Delaware shelter. Major is the only shelter dog to ever live in the White House. As Champ teaches Major the ropes: greeting visitors and showing him the good places to sleep, when dad is done working they look forward to playing with him outdoors. Presidents love animals it seems, did you know that only (2) former Presidents never had a pet living at the White House?This is a beautifully illustrated fun and informative book for young readers. My grandchildren love animals so when I heard about this book, I had to order it; I wasn't disappointed and neither were they - not just for kids.

The media could not be loaded.  I purchased this for my 6 year old, who you can see/hear reading some of the story in this video! It took him about 2 minutes to read it completely, so this video is about half of the story. It's a nice length book. Big, bright, beautiful illustrations. My son adored looking through them! The sentences are simple & as you can see, very easy for my kindergarten kid to read! Excited to have this in our little home library 🐕

We're adults in our 40's but we love German Shepherds, we had to add this to our collection. This was very well done. It felt like it could have had a couple more pages, but Major's journey at the White House is just beginning after all :) (And I'm taking our age into consideration, so I'm not holding it against the team on this.)It made for a fun date night activity reading it together like a good old fashioned 'story time.'We still smile seeing the cover every day. We're not quite ready to put it spine out on the shelf.

A lovely book for kids and adults alike! It’s a heartwarming story on the experience of dogs being in the White House again. The illustrations are so wonderful that they made me feel a range of emotions, from those about rescuing animals to the hope I feel with the larger ideas around Major and Champ going to the White House!

Of course I read this when both babies were in the White House! So cute and great pics! Please do a book on Willow and Commander! I’ll get that too!

The illustrations were adorable and with few words on each page it's perfect for younger children yet left room to elaborate for older children. Who doesn't love a rescue story especially when they end up living at the White House with they're older dog brother.

A lovely look at where the dogs came from and how they moved to a new (also old) home. Great book for the child in your life and those still young at heart. Five WOOFS rating from my favorite four-year old.

I love this book! The illustrations are very sweet and the simple message is too. It would have garnered 5 stars from me if only the author had included that a small portion of the proceeds would go to help shelters for animals waiting for their forever homes.

I was thrilled to see dogs back in the White House -- and having a German Shepherd in my house, I was especially thrilled about Champ and Major!
