Not disappointed... great toy!
I was a little hesitant given some of the negative reviews, but I'm so glade we decided to get it.Yes, it is rather small, but since the wheels are completely under it there isn't any foot/legs hitting the wheels to worry about, which I like. Though it is small, it's perfect for her (her feet barely reach and she's about 29-30in tall) and I know even as she grows she'll still be able to play on it, her legs will just be more bent, but then again it's a scoot toy so I don't mind. The 360 swivel makes it really easy for my daughter to use. This was for her 1 yr birthday so she isn't the most coordinated and being able to go any direction is perfect. Some people said the noise is hard to get it to make, this I can't comment on. Since she has a lot of noise toys I just didn't put batteries in it, I didn't want it this toy for the "boink" noises it makes anyways. Also, there is a little squeaky horn thing for them to push in the middle which is good enough for me. If you're looking for the bump noise info see another review.Given her age, she's not able to control the direction, the "bumper" works really well against our walls and leather sofa like it says it would. The body of it is plastic, but it is a very nice quality so I'm pretty satisfied with that. I think it should easily be able to last with future siblings.I also like the retro look of it.Overall, I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews stop me from this purchase because my daughter LOVES it, which makes me happy too!

Awesome Purchase
My mother-in-law heard about this toy in a radio interview and called me immediatly to order it for our son for Christmas. I was a bit skeptical at first, but he loves it so much it has won me over. I like the combination of fine motor (working the steering wheel and buttons) and large motor skills involved in using it. With the swivel wheels that are on the bottom it doesn't necessarily just go forward and backward like ordinary "ride on" toys for this age group. He and his sisters (ages 2,5, and 8) are having a blast with it. They ALL love to use it. I would definatly buy it again and plan to purchase one for future 1st birthday gifts. The only draw back (although could be a positive for younger children) is that is works much better on our hardwood floors as opposed to carpeting and tiled areas. We are lucky in this regard because most of our flooring is hardwood - but for those who don't have a solid surfaced flooring it might pose more of a challenge to get the full effect. On the positive side, it is designed to bump into things, and has not marred a wall, the floor, furniture or wood work. Someone was really thinking when they created this toy.

My 1 year old LOVES this!!!
We gave this to our son as a gift on his 1st birthday and he loves it! He's not big enough to sit on it and push himself around yet, but he loves to sit on it and let us push him around! It's fast, turns on a dime and very smooth on our hardwood floors. He also uses it as a walker! He stands next to the steering wheel, holds onto it, and pushes the bumper car all around the house -- and he really flies! He prefers it to his other walkers because the swivel wheels make it so easy for him to turn around corners. The squeaky horn is a little hard for him to press, but he does manage a squeak now and then. He is just discovering the hilarious "crash" noises the bumper car makes and has figured out if he picks it up by the steering wheel and drops it down he'll often hear the "crash" sounds. It is a little smaller than I expected, but it's so fast and fun that I'm sure he will find a way to use it even after his legs have outgrown it. And let's face it, "small" is not exactly a bad thing when it comes to baby/toddler toys!

Radio Flyer Classic Bumper Car
My 18 month old loves this car! I am so happy we bought it for her - it's just the right size and it's so easy for her to maneuver around because the wheels move in any direction. At first she wasn't so sure about it, but after a couple of days, she really warmed up to it. It's easy to get off and on, and is stable. She has never tipped it over while riding either. It does take a bit of effort to make the sounds, but she has learned to run in to the wall or door to hear it make noise! Good news is, so far, no scuff marks on walls or baseboards. Although it is really meant to just be used indoors, we have taken it outside a couple of times and the wheels are still fine (but we do not make a habit of playing outside with it.) We have hardwood floor throughout the house, but do have a couple of low-pile area rugs, and she can move across those without a problem too. We also recommended to a friend who has a son the same age.

Toddler loves it!
Our son loves this. I saw him riding one at daycare and saw how much fun he was having. Sturdy build, good thing because he slams into walls at max speed, and love the sound effects.

Very small
I bought two of these for my grandsons. I could not believe how SMALL they were. My advice would be to not buy them unless you have seen them physically, not in a picture. I sent them back.

Expectations were higher
A cute little toy that I thought would be a better idea than it actually is. My 21 month old grandson does like it, but he doesn't love it. It requires batteries if you want the sounds. It makes funny sounds when it bumps into things, such as "boing-g-g-g-g", but it has to be a fairly substantial bump. The rear wheels in my opinion need to have a wider wheel base. My grandson wobbles from side to side on the seat, but he doesn't fall over because he doesn't go too fast, and he has a foot on the floor beside each of the wheels. Maybe the purpose is to begin to teach the type of balance that he'll later need to ride a bicycle (???) I don't know. He does sit on it and push himself around the room, usually for short periods of time. He speeds up and slows down. He gets off, plays with something else, then gets back on, and rides across the room on the car again.
