A Must-Read!
I feel truly blessed that I came across this book while searching for information on Apache spirituality or more books written by Dhyani Ywahoo. Dhyani's book, Voices of Our Ancestors, was such an inspiration to me years ago that I found myself wishing all of humanity would read it -- or at the very least, read the first couple of chapters. I feel the same way about this excellent book and was pleasantly surprised to learn that Dhyani Ywahoo was one of Luc Bourgault's teachers, as was Oh Shinnah of the Teneh (Apache) tribe.I have many books on crystals, healing, and Native American spirituality, but this one tied them all together in such a way that it resonated with how I have felt about such things all my life, explaining for me the apparent reasons I have felt such things inherently.I believe if you have even a drop of Native American blood in you, you cannot help but truly feel the depth of this book. Even though it is just an introduction to crystal healing, it provides incredibly pertinent information that should not be disregarded. Still, the author himself cautions that you only accept what feels right to you in what he has written.I recommend this book to anyone seriously wanting to work with healing crystals. There are more in-depth books on the subject, but this one will provide you with a foundation that can only help you (and those you intend to heal) in the long run, since it explains reasons to do -- and NOT to do -- certain things. It proves that crystal healing is not a task to be taken lightly, and that serious study must be done to accomplish healings in a safe and thoughtful way.But more than that, especially in the beginning of the book, Luc Bourgault discusses a oneness with our Mother Earth and all of Nature that EVERYONE really ought to hear, understand, and put into practice. We are all related, and this book truly gets that point across.

Enjoyable book on crystals, not sure how "Native American" it is.
I ordered this book out of curiosity. I does not appear from Luc Bourgault's prologue he is Native American but he writes he has studied with some of them. Realize Native American covers a lot of nations and they all have their own ways so one should not view this book as some kind of panacea of Native American uses of crystals regardless of the fact Bourgault may have learned from some of them. Also Bourgault is using some of the knowledge he has acquired so this is not purely Native American teachings. He uses the 7 chakra system brought to the West by the Theosophists in the section where he discuses colors of stones and their relationships to the chakras. If I were to ask a Native American if this is part of their traditional beliefs I have the feeling the answer would be no. I'm sure they have their own beliefs about the energy system in the body and in nature. There appears to be some different spellings of crystal names than I am used to but this could be because the book was originally written in French and Bourgault writes he teaches in Quebec, Canada so perhaps he is French Canadian. Examples of crystal names spelled different from what I am used to are chrysocoll and cornelian, I would know these are chrysocolla and carnelian. This is not to imply Bourgault's work doesn't have it's uses, but be aware the title of the book implies this is Native American "secrets" of crystal healing and I have my doubts about that claim. I think I would have been more comfortable is he simply put it forward as a book on crystal healing and not put it out as Native American even if he has learned some things from some Native Americans. But to be fair this could be marketing on the part of the publisher and the book was copyrighted in French in 1992 so it's over 20 years old and people have become more sensitive to treading on other people's cultures in the ensuing years. The book is a good one for beginners and is an easy relatively short read. I enjoyed the info though not being Native American or having been taught anything on crystals by one I am not sure how close this is to their teachings. I would have liked a bit more explanation of various crystal formations (particularly for quartz) and how to use them or whether certain formations should be used. One big positive of the book is Bourgault's emphasis on self empowerment, respect for the natural world and working on oneself. From the Introduction:To begin with, the first crystal which you work, which you clean, polish and purify, must be yourself. It is an illusion to think you can work effectively with crystals if you have not already started the work on yourself. You must realize that this work you do on yourself is the most important work of all.Even if you have success, power or material well-being, you will have to leave it all behind when you die and, and if you have not worked on yourself, you will be back to square one. You will have accomplished nothing despite all your wealth.I appreciate he writes about taking care of oneself and devoting one day of a week to personal enjoyment. So often we forget to heal the healer. He also writes about cleansing of your space and your crystals and I do feel this is important. Overall I enjoyed the book and can give it a recommend as a book by a man who has worked with crystals and does appear to respect and love crystals and mother nature.

Secrets of Crystal Healing
I'm so glad Mr. Luc Bourgault wrote this book, in this new age era, the mantra anything goes is used to sell books, very little is published about the rules and law's governing the elements your working with. I bought a few books on crystal healing, but sadly was lacking any type of information, on how to properly handle crystal. luckily I ran across Mr. Bourgault book, I cannot thank him enough for writing this book, for many years I have been wanting to work with crystals as I have been a spiritualist since age 14. however my energy is sometimes unstable due to my fiery nature. I learned crystal is a dangerous tool to work with, unless one's energy is stable and that great harm can result in handling them incorrectly. while I'm an adept at rootwork and conjure. crystal's are whole other element. I'm glad I had the chance to be led to this book, as I realize there is much work to be done to stabilize my energies before attempting to work with crystals. oftentimes I have seen great harm come to those, who practice magic with out knowing the rules and listening to the "so called experts" mantra anything goes. the rules are in place for a reason. their are laws governing everything and everyone on this planet, regardless if one chooses to adhere to them or not. after much meditation, cleansing and balancing my energies, I'm now ready to work with crystals. had I not run across this book, I probably would have done grave harm to myself or someone else. thank you for injecting some common sense in this sphere Mr. Luc Bourgault, thank you for writing this book.
