Newcastle Geordie Schooner Glass | New Set of 2 Glasses

I got a Newcastle glass at a thrift shop—then it broke. I took a chance and ordered a set of two (on Amazon). The price and shipping was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but if you can get past that, this glass is the real thing. It simply is one of the best pint glasses ever and it makes any drink fun. The printing seems to be baked on. Highly durable and won't wash off unless you scrub it vigorously with steel wool (and why would you). This is the real glass, without any extra advertising (like some glasses). Highly recommended.

The glasses are beautiful, quite solid, and easy to hold because of the base. They pack these like nobody's business and they arrived safe and sound. One of the glasses had a label defect, which the seller promptly replaced, no questions asked. He responded personally and said he would train his staff to look for defects before shipping. The replacement glass was perfect and just as securely packed as the first set. This is a great, trustworthy seller, with excellent customer service.

These things rock. They're good quality, have the nucleated star that keeps a constant stream of bubbles, and you really can notice a difference in aroma and flavor when drinking from this glass. I wholeheartedly recommend them. The package shipped quickly and arrived days before the projected delivery. The packaging was great and the glasses arrived flawless. These are nice glasses, I suppose... but they feel a bit "dainty" in my hand. For some reason, when I hear the term "schooner", I expect a larger vessel. These are 16oz glasses and hold a perfectly acceptable amount of brew... but from the commercial and print adds I saw, I was kind of expecting them to be larger. Curse the commercial industry for employee actors/models with tiny hands to make their glassware, hamburgers, and rolls of toilet tissues seem larger than they truly are! The glasses seem well made, though a bit thin. I am comparing them to a traditional pint glass, so that may not be fair. But I have a couple of traditional style "Newcastle" pint glasses and I just prefer them.

We have many pint glasses of various shapes, but we have used these almost exclusively since they arrived a couple of years ago. They fit the hand well, and the base makes it stable. My wife says it is sexy like a wine glass. She broke hers, so I just ordered another pair at her request. Now I wish we could get the old version of Newcastle beer from before Lagunitas started making it for the US market and ruined it. Making the bottles brown was a good idea to avoid light, but taking away the unique malty sweetness we loved in favor of a slightly hoppy beer that tastes like all the others was a mistake. Bring back the original recipe.

Bought these for my husband for Christmas. I didn't open them when they came in the mail, I just wrapped them and place them under the tree. The glass is nice enough. It's heavy and big. However, I noticed what I thought was a dirt smear on both glasses. On further inspection it looks like the label is smeared a crossed them. Won't wash off. Printing errors. Not what I wanted in a gift.

I love Newcastle so finally finding them and buying them was a no brainer. These glasses actually make the beer taste better. I think its the way the glass makes the beer enter your mouth and the fact that your nose ends up inside the glass gathering the aroma. Sounds dumb but it actually works. BUT my only dislike is that the laser etched star on the bottom of the inside of the glass that's supposed to make bubbles, didn't work. I don't know if I got duds but that is the only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars.
