A most enjoyable finish to the five Cavanaugh books! Highly recommended!
Great wrap up for this series. Lord Godfrey is a charming character, but seems very down to earth. As an expert art authenticator, he makes a trip to Yorkshire in the dead of winter. Stranded by a blizzard, quite sick from a long trudge on foot, he falls at the heroine’s feet as he enters the centuries old Hinkley Manor. She of course sees to his recuperation, which is in no way assured. With a wonderful cast of characters, Lord Godfrey realizes that this family works together to solve problems. This is a very foreign concept for him, but he is enamored and quickly realizes he would like to stay permanently!I went back and read all the siblings tales before reading the final two. It was an enjoyable experience and gave me a much better perspective than I would have had without going back to Book One. So I read them all over the course of a few days while quarantined here in Florida. This was so enjoyable!I also threw in The Tempting of Thomas Carrick, and A Match for Marcus Cynster to really get me on the right path of the next generation Cynster Family. I must also mention that the first book that features the Cavanaugh family is a Cynster book that is entitled The Taming of Ryder Cavanaugh! This is one I also picked up as it had been quite awhile since I had originally read it. They really do flow together so nicely. So this review is really for seven books! The two Cynster books and the five Cavanaugh books. All of them are so enjoyable and have just the right amount of mystery and conflict to make Ms. Laurens one of my favorite authors.

Great finish that satisfied but one main problem with all of Lauren's books!
This was a perfect get-a-way from the Pandemic with no end in sight--it entertained and grabbed your interest instantly. Starts off with a bang and only book I ever remember where hero spends first week in bed!!! AND even THAT worked itself perfectly into the novel! The characters are people you'd love to know (both families really) and the plot draws you in almost instantly unless you have no imagination. I figured out the villain early but loved to watch the characters figure it out. The hero was so perfect a hero with sadness needing a woman's touch to resolve and the heroine had never been interested in any man before Godfrey so she had to be "awakened ".I really gave it five stars because the ending left you satisfied and knowing the family is thriving and all past heroes and heroines were happy!THE main problem with Lauren's books IS that it's a let down to go back to ho-- hum or average writer's efforts after this vacation for my mind and spirits.

Good read
Godfrey Cavanaugh is an art appraiser sent to North Yorkshire to evaluate a painting. Caught in a snowstorm, he catches a fever but is nursed back to health by the daughter of the family, Elinor Hinckley. Unfortunately, the painting is a forgery, and Godfrey sets about solving the mystery as well as wooing Elinor.I felt like I read this book before as the plot is very familiar to a few others I've read, but that's fine because Ms. Laurens always adds her own stamp to a story. The characters are great and both Godfrey and Elinor are a good match with lots of chemistry. A very good read.

Satisfying finish to a wonderful series!
This is the final book in the Cavanaughs series. Godfrey has watched all his siblings fall in love and find their way in this changing world. He is making his mark as a trusted evaluator of works of art. He is sent to check the veracity of a painting, but is caught out in a blizzard on the way there and becomes badly ill. He gets to know the family well, especially the oldest daughter Ellie. Trying to heal and then evaluating the painting leads to a mystery that someone doesn't want him to figure out. There are many possible suspects and the solution is surprising. The pace is leisurely, the tone is hopeful and the storyline is character oriented with some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. Read these in order starting with The Taming of Ryder Cavanaugh, and then going through this series in order. If you like historical romances with mystery and surprises along with endearing characters, then this is for you! Enjoy!

Great finish to the series
Romance, a blizzard, intrigue and art - Godfrey and Ellie meet when he literally crumples at her feet. He’s there to evaluate her father’s painting, but must recover from his illness after getting to her home. They build trust and when things seem dire, they work together to find their way. But a villain is at work, and Godfrey’s knowledge of art threatens all he’s planned. Will he be rescued in time? Will the art be sold? Not telling. You’ll have to read it.

The last Cavanaugh- FANTASTIC Story
Fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed Godfrey's story. Like all of Stephanie's books, his story was terrific. I really hope sheh keeps 'em coming 🙄. This is the last Cavanaugh, so I am VERY interested to see what's next.... I can't get enough of the Cysters and their "spinoff's.

Final book of the series
Godfrey Cavanaugh purpose is linked to Art. He is known in Art circle as authenticator of painting especially if the painting is a forgery. He is sent to Yorkshire in Winter to view a painting. What he finds is a lady as pure as a bottcelli and a fascinating story linked to painting. There is still the usual love match, a mystery, the unexpected villain and a happy ending all set in the backdrop of a Victorian England

Masterful writing
Another amazing book from Ms Laurens. Drawing you in with the suspense of who is the villain and how Ellie and Godfrey will come to realise they are fated to marry

Good, not great
I always read Stephanie Laurens books as soon as they're available, and I'm never disappointed. It's always fun to get news of the previous books characters. As of this book, it's fun to read, but not one of her best. The two main characters were great and their love story was believable. As for the other characters, the heroine family was enjoyable, but the others were a little useless. Also, the vilain identity was kind of predictable. But all in all, a good read, enjoy!

Lacklustre
As you would expect from this author the book is easy to read and competently written. On his way to appraise a painting the hero is caught in a blizzard and contracts a lung infection. He is consequently supine in bed for a few days. The plot almost mirrors his lack of energy. The heroine is a pleasant girl ,having to cope with managing an invalid father and her young brother and sister. They live in a fairly isolated part of the country, so when villainy is suspected the perpetrator is not hard to discover. There was no suspense and very little excitement. The part about provenance was mildly interesting. They fortunately got the painting back , that was the only thing about the book that was surprising!
