The media could not be loaded. So, before going into this review understand that I do believe this is the best converter and up-scaler I have used on a budget. However for clarity, the PS2 never had an inbuilt 720p or 1080p mode so don't expect a picture quality for something a-kin to the PlayStation 3 in proper HD. It will always be 480i/480p as the resolution of the console itself is the bottleneck.For the real review, as I stated before this is genuinely one of the best budget options for the PS2 if you're looking to record gameplay from proper hardware or if your TV doesn't support Composite or Component like mine does. It even comes with a instructional booklet to inform you how to tweak the options accordingly to make it function. Quite straight forward and easy to understand, so its appreciated for those not versed with the old console options.As mentioned previously, it scales the output to make it look smooth and less stretchy to your TV. It's actually a pretty good quality on its own, but combine with the soft-mod, FreeMcboot and change the options to scale every game to 480p instead of 480i and you have one of the best picture qualities you can get from a PS2. Like I said, on its own it does a fantastic job, but with the combination every game looks completely crisp as can be.On top of that it fits my Fat PS2 perfectly fine, but as some have pointed out it feels rather tight being right next to the power input port. Which is a fair assessment to make, but Slim model requires little power compared its bigger brother that the fear heat displacement was eliminated for me on arrival. The smart thing about the design that I noticed is that it's far back enough for the wire to be flexible underneath vs the bulkier area, allowing the cord not to unnaturally bend and damage it. Even having a small gap with spare room, to make sure the actual components aren't touching each other.The power options are impressive as well. Their own tutorial video shows that because of the lower power usage for it, the USB ports alone can power it. I've also tested it on my TV and Dual USB port, all works perfectly. The fact that is also just a Mini-USB means that the cord is easily replaceable, since those are pretty much anywhere that sells cellphone cords. Even comes with an auxiliary port on the back, which appreciated cause it allowed me to play on one of my PC monitors, with my sound bar plugged into it converter.The only thing that should re-instated that I see people take issue with and that's that it basically locks your PS2 from playing PS1 games. Which is true, but since it was advertised I have no problem with it. Before anyone get curious to try, yes this extends to the Hard Drive trick that I've seen everyone use FreeMcboot for that I even decided to do as a test run. Whether it's physical disc or off the hard drive, expect essentially the equivalent of a soft crash cause all you'll get is a Black Screen. That's due to the PS1 requiring a certain output that isn't present in this, when it looks for it, which is understandable cause like I predicted, the model they sell that does offer that is x2.4 the price of this one, which is fair.Overall, one of the best converters, let alone scalers that I have ever used. So if you're in the market for one, this is highly recommended and will save you on the Retrolink up-scalers that everyone bangs on about. Low Price, Great Picture and the bonus of playing well with capture devices. Just don't use a Capture Device, without the FreeMcboot setting cause you will see some heavier grainy effects, which still isn't anything to scoff at overall since it's 480i and not 480p on quite few games in the PS2 library, that don't have progressive scan to make it look a bit sharper.

I initially tried an a cable converter and it was horribly blurry. I switched to this and the picture is significantly better.Understand that it's still blowing up your ps2 era graphics to you flat-screen.It's not going to look amazing, it doesn't do that.If your ps2 is set to rgb it won't display through this adapter also. The instructions give clear directions to change your ps2 video mode even without seeing the screen. I didn't need it but I'm impressed with the care they took.I also assume you need fmcb out of the ps2 for that to work.The usb also works plugged into the ps2 front, but may not work with an additional usb plugged in.Great product for a great price

Sharp & Clear picture quality. I had component cables and wasn't sure if I'd notice much difference since this adapter is basically just component but via HDMI. Well, all the TVs I have seem to handle the picture better on the HDMI than analog ports and this was no exception. It's not a night and day difference from just component cables so don't expect a miracle or anything - but it was a further improvement. It's the best my PS2 has ever looked.

I like that the cord was simply plug and play. This hdmi ps2 conversion kit includes the converter, a micro USB cable to power the converter, and some basic instructions. Upon installation one thing I did not like about this product, was the displacement of its weight. After being plugged in, the converter sags, and sits at a downward angle, due to its weight. This does not effect functionality, but left more to be desired. The games look decent, but there's a lot of grain effect, blotchiness, blurriness. Overall it works, it does what it is supposed to, but I guess people are correct when saying a tv upscaling device will be needed for better picture quality when using hdmi style tv's. Games are playable, some of them even look really good, but there's a vast selection of ps2 titles that simply do not look the way they should, and this is not a result of nostalgia making you remember it looking better than it did. If you're looking to jump in right away and start playing, this hdmi ps2 converter will work for you. Do some research on upscale products, and find what works best for you. I recommend this product 9/10 for its simplicity, included micro USB to power the converter itself, and it's very affordable price point.

No reason to buy this if it simply won't work. Demanding a refund immediately.

Worked so well

Easy to use and picture is sharp clear. Unfortunately, this product is very cheap. After having it for about 4 months the external power supply snapped off along with one of the pins on the motherboard (shown in picture). This was after just basic use but could have been by the plastic casing always snapping open.

I’m so happy I got this. People online would say that the difference from component to HDMI wouldn’t be drastic but for me it is! The product comes with instructions that feature a sequence with the buttons but I didn’t have to do any of that. This will bring your PS2 experience to another level.
