👍Brilliant Black Comedy w/Suspense!
It's not just actions but also a good drama behind the actions. Before I knew it, it was the end. I want the sequel!

Good movie
I had a lot of fun watching this with all it's action and humor. My favorite part was the last 20 min. of the movie. It is still another Miike good movie with his qualities.

A Neglected Miike Gem
Takashi Miike is truly one of the most versatile film directors working today. You cannot pigeonhole him. He slips into action, drama, comedy, family, fantasy, science fiction, manga, or art movies, or just plain weird, cultish movies, and back again, with ease, skill, and dexterity. This movie is more or less a conventional action movie. It is a typical revenge movie, the rage of retribution by a young Yakuza gangster avenging the death of his mentor. It is one of his neglected gems, while this might be easy to do as he has put out one hundred movies at this writings. It also has, in my opinion, one of the best fight scenes ever committed to film, ever.Nuff said.

More Miike Madness
Another Yakuza film from Takashi Miike. This is a familiar story of a Yakuza having to battle rivals and his own gang who betray him. The film kicks off with a very good montage of action and rock music. Its not quite up there with the opening of Dead Or Alive but its still impressive. The story then settles down and, like Dead Or Alive, has a fair bit of dialogue and becomes a bit ponderous. I was never bored by the film but as with all Miike films I have seen I found my self waiting for the next shock moment. This is a strength and a weakness. He makes great scenes but isn't very good at sustaining a story or developing characters. Anyway, things escalate into more voilence. Our protagonist pulverizes some rival Yakuzas with a crow bar. He then blows up a couple of buildings with a bazooka. Its all very tongue in cheek and highly silly and entertaining. Its fairly bloody and in some of the scenes blood splashes all over the camera lens which looks quite cool. There is also plenty of black humour. My crticisms are the underdeveloped story and characters as mentioned before. Also, the ending is a dissapointment and makes little sense. A climatic fight with an awesome amount of fire-power in which no one gets even seriously injured. Interestingly, this was made in the same year as Graveyard of Honor which I think is a better film. The quality of the DVD is average. Its a bit gloomy and there are some subtitle errors. Still, an entertaining 90 mins no doubt.
