The New Amateur Astronomer (The Patrick Moore Practical Astronomy Series)

A fine update
This is an update to the late Sir Patrick Moore's classic introduction to amateur astronomy, and it is fitting that it has found a place in Moore's Practical Astronomy Series. It covers some of the same ground that Moore did, as any introductory text will, but Mobberley includes numerous updates regarding the state of the field that were simply either unavailable or beyond the reach of amateur astronomers in Moore's day.

Probably OK for Astro photographers.
I suppose in this day and age for amateur astronomers it’s all about taking pics. If that’s your goal than this book is for you.The author spends a few chapters on fundamentals and newer ( as per the date the book was published) equipment. And it’s all good solid info.He than jumps into Astro photography and stays there the rest of the book. The author seems knowledgeable and there’s no reason to question his information, but I can’t make any comments because I’m a visual observer only. And that’s my problem. The book description was a little vague on the amount of the book dedicated to visual astronomy. What I read and could apply to my part of the hobby was good.
