Successful Strategies for Pursuing National Board Certification: Version 3.0, Components 1 and 2 (What Works!)

Writing for the NBCT is incredibly challenging and requires a *different* kind of writing than most of us teachers are used to! This book helps to focus on that writing style and tackle the daunting stuff by giving great pointers, buzzwords, and provides important perspective while preparing, in the midst of writing, and in the editing phases!

I decided to work on my National Board Certification and was looking for resources to help me prepare for all aspects. I have been a teacher for 6 years, while I know my content area I also need a refresh on using terminology that is above the sixth grade level. This book helps with all of that. It breaks down all of the parts of the certification process in a way that lends itself to someone that has been out of school for a while. It also explains why things need to be done a certain way. This is a wonderful resource that I highly recommend to any teacher working towards their National Boards regardless of subject area.

This book helped me to realize how general my commentary was. The tips were great. Hopefully I get high scores!

This is a great reference to the NB, especially if you're feeling lost or overwhelmed. Faulkner gives great tips while still holding onto the integrity of the certificate. Glad I bought it!

I'm pretty much on my own in this process, so I found this book helpful. I didn't find the one that focuses on writing that helpful, but the component books were good.

As someone who is working on components one and two this year, this book is a must-have for those needing some direction on where to start. It totally lays out where you need to start your journey, what needs to be focused on in both instruction and writing parts, and its format is easy to follow. This short, brief book is worth the $18 and it presents the info in a way that is easy to go back and look for. Thank you Bobbie... please write a book for Components 3 and 4...

The writing tips in here are ok, but you'd get the same or more in Bobbie's other national board book. It's very thin and only addresses two components, one of which is component 1. Great constructed response tips, though.

I purchased all three books, and I’m so glad I did. The information on the NBCT website can be daunting, but Bobbie’s books break down the different aspects of each component. I amso thankful that she shared her knowledge and actually breaks down “what works” in a clear and concise way.
