Useful wrack for my Butler sink (with no drainer) and real wood counter top
Highly recommended. It comes in a larger size to hold wine glasses. Having said that the smaller size works for me and all water drains into spout and drips into the sink and not on work top. I have no drainer and this is why it’s a very good buy. The glass/cup holders are very strong and I place my non scratch scourer in the gap between mug holder & tray. Easy to clean. All in all a great buy which is fit for purpose and looks good and, most importantly, my oak counter top is kept water free. Yippee!

Small but mighty!!!
I spent an obscene amount of time researching drainers as in the 15 years we've lived together my hubby and I have been through tonnes. Despite the price tag, we gave this one a go because it is stylish, modern, and we know the simplehuman brand is built to last. I was initially worried about the size (we went for the compact due to our new sink draining board being quite small) - we are a family of four with two teens who are great at creating dishes and not so great at washing them! But from my pictures you can see that this drainer, even in its small size, does not disappoint! That is a 30cm frying pan in there with a large pot and lid, a colander, four pasta bowls, and a butter dish!!! I think the capacity is greatly aided by the high sides and the hooks on the side for cups. My only niggle is that I feel they could have fit three hooks on it instead of just two, but that really is the only downside so far. The moveable water spout is great too. We have it draining into our half sink and it is a great way to aid faster drying and most importantly no more limescale on the sink draining board! Very pleased and would not hesitate to recommend. P.S. I can't believe I have written so much about a dish drainer!!!

Worth every penny
If you are thinking of buying this, do!I stayed in a holiday cottage that had one, so got to trial it for a week. As soon as I got back, I bought one for myself and the larger version one for my mum (she LOVED it).It looks nice and blends into kitchen surroundings with the choice of colours (although quite tall)It is very stable and sturdy. There is happily enough space for 2 people's worth of washing up.Very well designed to be a very practical aid in the kitchen.I am using it in a hard water area, so I guess it will need cleaning thoroughly every week to prevent limescale buildup. - This can be a bit fussy with the drip tray, but it's not too much of a problem. The drip tray function is really convenient. It is fully flexible, so suitable for any kitchen set up.

What a great rack.....
I thought long and hard about buying this item, I wondered what the real difference or benefits between my normal plastic dish rack and this stilt-house style dish rack but when I took the thing out of the box, put it in my kitchen and put it to work I really did love it.Firstly it looks great, really adds a bit of style to the kitchen, but the rack is also very practical and sturdy and the raised legs and drip tray are just genius. So much water goes on your work top and scum builds up under a normal dish-rack and this prevents this from happening. There is also a cutlery compartment which slots onto the rack in the corner and is removable, a nice touch, and the rack itself is 360 degrees so can be moved around to suit where your sink is or where it looks best.It is called 'compact' and this would be quite correct, some reviews complain that it does not hold enough items but I have piled this thing high with plates, bowls pots pans and it holds the lot, it does not look neat but the washing up never did and I do not have OCD so this is fine by me. I do live in a two bed flat, just the two of us and the rack holds just the right amount even on the busiest of dirty dish days, but maybe this is made for just two people rather than a 5 person family.I have given it 4 rather than 5 stars purely because large round dishes often sit at a tilt rather than straight up (as noted by other reviewers) this may be a problem for some but used correctly stacking dishes from the back to front it does work for me and because all the other features are so good and it looks great I am very happy with this dish rack.

Improves on the original version, but no knife block
I used the previous version of the steel rack for almost 10 years but alas the plastics get brittle with age and the whole kaboodle needed replacement. These Simplehuman racks are very durable and I expect this to last as long as the old one did.The new version improves on the previous with a fixed front cup drainer (which no longer slides in and out) and now drains the water into a separate funnel. The drainer funnel is updated and no longer leaks due to the way the rotating joint is designed. It is easier to remove and clean, just unscrew the metal disc at the top of the tray and off it comes as gunk will collect down there. The plastic base is sealed and bonded to the steel rim. I have no problems with water leakage. You can pile on loads of plates, pots, pans, chopping boards etc. Its very spacious. However I'm not too happy its no longer supplied with the bamboo knife block that came with the old version, which for me was indispensable. Fortunately with a bit of DIY hackery the old block can just about be squeezed into the cutlery drainer. This is an expensive purchase but from my experience of the previous one, this should also last a very long time.
