Works Well - Wake up well rested and not drowsy.
I am a Nurse, so I frequently find myself lying in bed at night with a thousand thoughts running through my head (especially a few days off). To combat this, I sometimes take a Tylenol PM or a similar antihistimine-based over-the-counter product just to help things along. The problem is that I don't want to have to "depend," on a drug, so I decided to try a product with natural ingredients. This product features melatonin, which is a natural sleep-aid that millions of people swear by. It's touted to be non habit-forming, so I decided to give it a try. Two evenings in a row, I've taken two capsules about two hours before I was ready to turn in. After an hour, I started to feel comfortable and drowsy...is it the NightTime sleep aid or my imagination? I can't confirm, but either way, it's a winner! Both nights, I slept straight through. I also woke up without feeling drowsy, which can't be said about Benedryl (that drowsiness sticks with me for several hours into the school day).The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because of the smell. Each time I open the bottle, it smells like vomit, and it's really strong! I guess its the concentration of the powder in the capsules, but boy--it's really strong. Works amazing for me! No drugged groggy feelings the next morning. Only two small issues affect it's perfection.
I have had problems with getting restful sleep for as much of my life as I can remember. I usually do not have a problem with going to sleep but I often wake up and am unable to fall back asleep, sometimes for several hours. That makes for a long day and a grumpy mood. I have tried sleep aids but most contain diphenhydramine (the main component of Benadryl) and while it does help me to sleep, it leaves my feeling groggy and "hung over" the next day. Even when taking a 1/4 dose of the recommended 50 mg I still feel sluggish for several hours the next day. I was glad to try this product since it does not contain diphenhydramine.This product's main content is melatonin and Valerian root. I have used plain melatonin in the past for sleep and it worked great but gave me very vivid dreams, often nightmares. For some odd reason, this product does not do that. Perhaps the amount of melatonin is less than the plain melatonin I was taking, or it could be the other ingredients. I am not sure but I do wish that the amounts of the ingredients were listed, but they are not.The Sleep Aid works quickly on me, within 30-45 minutes. I get a gentle sleepy feeling and I fall asleep very quickly when I lay down. I told my husband it is like slowly drifting away on a cloud and he laughed at me but it really is a nice floaty sensation like that. I sleep much more solidly and if I do happen to wake up in the night I am almost always able to go back to sleep fast and easy. Best of all, the next day I awaken without any lingering drugged feelings. My body and mind is rested and my thoughts are never foggy.This product is amazing except for two small things. One, this product STINKS, literally. The smell of the pills are horrible. Fortunately they do not taste as bad as they smell and they do not give me a after taste but I dread taking them only because of the awful odor. I would describe it as sweaty feet in dirty gym socks. The other thing is that I really wish they listed the ingredient amounts. As a nurse I am super wary of the amounts of substances I consume, even natural ingredients. Another reason that that is an issue is because certain dosage amounts of melatonin can affect blood pressure and blood sugar levels. This product may be totally within a safe level but I do not know because the amount per dosage is not listed. Valerian is known to have some drug interactions and you should be sure to check to see if your medication interacts with it before taking.Other than the two mentioned cons above this Sleep Aid product has been amazing for me. At first I thought that $0.67 per dose seemed kind of high, but it really works and you can not put a price on a good night's sleep. Plus I do not use it every night so that extends the value. I have a hard time sleeping at night, staying asleep and waking up refreshed and non drowsy, These have helped me with this problem.I take two of these capsules at night about an hour before bedtime and within that hour I am feeling relaxed and drowsy.This capsule contains Melatonin, a neurotransmitter released during periods of deep sleep, Valerian Root, Lemon Balm, Passion Flower and Gaba, a neurotransmitter that promotes deep sleep, increases REM and provides relief of anxiety. I have used both melatonin and Valerian root in the past to help me sleep, and I was very pleased to ind a product that offered both ingredients in one capsule. Another upside to this product besides eliminating the need for multiple capsules is that it does not have the full strength odor of a pure vcaleian root supplement which can be very odoriferous. This product is all natural and helps in the aid of sleeping! As a person who has major sleep problems I have tried everything! This combined with my preceived medication works wonders!
