I have been using Nutro Wholesome Essentials Indoor Dry Cat Food for my cats for quite some time now, and I have no complaints at all! Both of my cats absolutely love the Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe, and they have been thriving on it. Their coats are shiny, they are full of energy, and I have noticed no adverse side effects whatsoever. Additionally, I have been using the Nutro brand for my dogs for years, and the quality has always been exceptional. It’s reassuring to know that all my pets are getting wholesome and nutritious food from a brand I trust. Highly recommended for both cats and dogs!

I’ve had this food before except it was labeled for kittens. I don’t have kittens anymore but I enjoy having two different kinds of kibble to mix and match from what they eat, so Ín result getting the indoor cat ones and it works

I recently switched my cats off of this food after starting it about half way through last year... or last Spring... I had 2 cats eating this food for almost a year... now, I do not believe that there is anything wrong with the food per-say. Both cats seemed to tolerate it really well. I have one cat who just barfs A LOT and one who almost never does. This food did not affect either one in that manner either way - meaning it didnt hurt or help the pre-existing barf issue. I selected the food because it is one of the only dry cat foods I have been able to find that has zero fish in it. No fish products, no fish, by products, no fish oils. That was important because I was trying to decipher one of my cat's allergy issues - we thought it may have had something to do with fish. It does not. I recently switched them to another dry food because I feel this one was causing an issue with my other cat - not the allergy one, the barfing one. Both of my cats are 8 years old and I have had them both since they were 6-weeks old and about 3 months ago the barfer started having severe issues with dehydration (so bad we had to get him to the vet 3 times... lots of tests/meds/what have you) - which he had never had a problem with prior to this food. So as a precaution I am switching. For those who may wonder... no, they do not only eat dry food. Never have. I leave the dry food out all day for them to eat at their leisure. I also give them wet food twice a day.

EDIT: it wasn’t the food. It was cancer 😔 Please read the most recent reviews—something about the formula or quality has changed. We have bought Nutro for years with no issues when suddenly, my very food-motived cat STOPPED eating. I refilled his automatic feeder before we went out of town, so my poor cat went hungry :( He dropped a pound and a half but fortunately didn’t get fatty liver disease. Thank goodness we feed him wet food at night or he might have starved himself. Sadly, I’ll be switching to another brand.

I’ve been buying this cat food for many years and it has made such a difference. When my cat started losing hair and getting thin, I switched to this formula. He quickly gained back a healthy weight and his coat came back full and shiny. He’s been thriving ever since. I highly recommend this food, it really works!

We started our cat on Nutro Chicken as soon as we got him. He loves it and there are no health problems with it. When we moved we couldn't find Nutro in the stores in our new town. So we started him on another high quality cat food, which he liked, but we use Pretty Litter and noticed that his urine was turning the litter a blue/green color, and I was scooping more, and softer poop. So we now order the Nutro with Amazon and his waste has returned to normal. I recommend this cat food, if your cat likes it. Georgia

For over 10 years, I managed pet stores and always stood behind Nutro. Unlike other high-end brands like Royal Canin and Science Diet, Nutro has always stuck with quality ingredients whereas the others have lowered the quality of their ingredients and went with cheap fillers. We have 3 cats and their diet is very important to me, this product contains Chicken, Chicken Meal, Rice, Alfalfa, Chicken Fat and many more healthy ingredients (plus additional vitamins/minerals). Many pet foods contain by-product but what they don't tell you is that with by-product you are also getting poorer cuts of meat/cartilage and when you see Animal Fat (a preservative) what kind of animal? Last, Nutro uses Brewers Rice and Brown Rice as a filler which is MUCH better than what most companies use...corn or corn gluten meal. Ummm, Cats and Dogs cannot digest corn. Not only is rice a good filler it also helps normalize the digestion process.

We have used Nutro brand cat food for our pets for years, and have been very happy with the health of our cats. They have soft shiny fur, bright eyes and lots of energy. It's excellent quality food.

Fancy pet owners poo poo NUTRO since they got their Walmart contract. This makes no sense. It's just well-crafted cat food. We've had 5 cats. Every one of them has loved this food and we have never had any issues with the litter. We haven't had as much luck with other brands.

This is marked as the same price at PetSmart. If you have Amazon Prime and your cat likes the Nutro line, definitely a great purchase. It's healthy and tastes great. My cat has turned down other healthy alternatives. Sometimes I like to mix the wet food in with the dry. She loves it!

I have always fed nutros pet food. My cat Sir El Capitano Princeton loves his chow. Just wish the bags were larger.
