I Promise You: A Heartfelt Picture Book about Belonging, Acceptance, Listening, and Love (Gifts for Toddlers, Sons, and Daughters)

I love giving gifts to my girls that mean something and are functional. My girls love books and this is literally the sweetest one I've read to them yet. Being a mom is the best thing I've ever done, but knowing that I'm preparing them to be their own person and let them fly independently someday is so hard. This book helped to remind me too that I'm preparing them to be that independent person!

Marianne Richmond's book is Fantastic! In fact, she does her own writing and illustrations. How awesome is that?!Walking us thru life with our littles and up to launching them into the world. What can you Really promise your kiddos? I couldn't wait to add this book to my library and you'll want to do the same. During this time of so much uncertainty, racial inequality, political unrest, COVID restrictions, this book is a perfect conversation starter for many age groups. There are certain life difficulties that we cannot promise our children they can avoid but the most important things in life such as love and security we can promise to give them, today and always!

I bought this book for my grandson . . . its so beautifully written and illustrated. . .Its what YOU would want to write but can never come up with it yourself. . .All of her books are amazing . . . and I happen to know that she is an amazing person and gives back!

Such a sweet and heartfelt message for kids of any age! I love reading this with my kids. We have several of Mariann’s books and I always buy one for my family and one as a gift for my nieces ❤️

A wonderful book to purchase for a child

I PROMISE YOU is a lovely picture book read of a message between caregiver and child. The book promises the reader care, freedom to be themselves, and lots of love. It is a really sweet message that shows the child growing and becoming an individual throughout. Each page features lovely watercolor illustrations that convey a lot of love and fun.What I loved: The illustrations are really pretty with soft watercolors and children and parents featured in recognizable scenes of love throughout. The text itself is easy to read in a nice clear font and is relatively short on each page, making them turn quickly. This book would be great as a gift of love.What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the text almost has a rhythm, but it does not quite get there, and so reads a bit awkwardly in places.Final verdict: A story of love with pretty watercolor illustrations, I PROMISE YOU is a great story to share between caregiver and child of all the ways we show our love and support as children grow up.Please note that I received a review copy through Sourcebooks Early Reads. This is a sweet book about the promises, stated or otherwise, that parents make to their children, from the earliest age to when they are grown up and leaving the nest. It is told in rhyming verse that doesn't always scan 100% right, but it is still lovely. The illustrations are a little less refined than I like, and I thought the spots on the cheeks at times were very overdone. Still, this book had sweet messages of love, caring, and commitment by parents to supply what a child needs on every level. A charming book.I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
