Great paint for the price - nice option for beginners.
I’m a beginner so I want decent but not expensive paint so I can paint a lot, often a lot of crap. But that is how to learn. I have found that paper and brushes are more important than paint unless it’s dollar store brands. This paint is highly pigmented and fun to use and the colors are vibrant.

Better than I expected!
I’m new to watercolor, so I got a Grabie set first. Thought these might be good colors to have larger pans of so I grabbed this set and was surprised at the quality! This Paul Reuben’s set is super nice quality compared to the Grabie set. The colors are super pigmented, they blend like a dream, and it only takes a smidge to get great color payoff. I also adore the case these paints come with - it’s the perfect size for mixing a few colors around, and the metal makes it easy to clean and safe for carrying around. Big fan, will purchase more.

Quality set of full pans
Vibrant colors. I’m a beginner and was looking for a quality set of colors I could use for color mixing at a decent price. I’m very happy with this set.

Great set of watercolor paints, zero complaints.
Got this for my wife who is an artist of many mediums. She says they're good quality and the pans are huge. Excellent price to boot. The interior plastic shell which holds the pans arrived with a few pieces broken but only along the edge, it does not affect the use of the paints. The case is metal and has a pallet on the inside lid.

Love them, bright colors
I find this brand very good. Good quality for the price, I have learned a few of their picgment on certain presentations have some problems. But this set specifically I love it, the colors are so rich and bold, they blend very well. For the price I recommended them, professional level, but not perfect.

Whats a name ?
Im not very excited about these line I sure thought i would be ! Not at all . I dont know what I was expecting i thought the name was a good brand ? Not nearly as good as my " mei liang" brand are ! I love those ! And will buy them before ill ever buy these again! Not nearly as high pigment as I would have hoped.

Paul Rubens Caroline vs. Sonnet
Since this set has the exact same color lay out as the Sonnet set, here is a comparison. Paul Rubens pans are on the left, Sonnet pans are on the right, same goes for the swatch comparison. For the value, Paul Rubens is better - you get bigger pans and a beautiful large and sturdy case, though very bulky. As you can see, I can actually fit 48 (and more) full pans instead of 24 in there if I take out the plastic. Paint quality wise, Sonnet rewets more easily and has more vibrant pigments and color payoff. I swatch them the exact same way, same amount of water, same wetting time, same brush and washes, etc. You can tell that Sonnet has more vibrant colors. That being said, Paul Rubens isn’t bad. You can still hey pretty nice and transparent colors, just not as pigmented and takes time to rewet. I personally would prefer the Sonnet set, because it’s easier to use and requires less space. The way they filled the Sonnet pans was awful though, a few pans were very bulgy because of huge bubbles in the paint. I’m not a pro and this is all I can say about these paints. I haven’t even painted with them yet. But I hope this is somewhat helpful and can help you decide which set to buy.

Worth price

The Paul Rubens brand is well known for its provision of mid-range watercolour products. The paint is finely milled and colours are vibrant and intense. They are well-suited for the advancing watercolour student or hobbyists with an eye for quality without incurring the much greater costs of professional grade paint.

Haven’t used yet but colours are great and comes in a neat little tin. Will further review when I have used them

I have several sets of student grade paints and I keep coming back to this. I love the tin and full size pans.

Very disappointed. The pans were completely missed up in comparison with the colour chart and had to be tested to get into order. Instructions and main Color chart were in chinese so no help at all. Color’s are ok and they have a reasonable amount of pigment. Would not purchase again.
