Perfect delivery
Delivery was on time as promised. Books were ok, no scratches or bumps, even though the packaging could be better as it was long distance and a remote address to deliver to. Something to keep in mind. Thnx!

The Bastard of Instanbul
The Bastard of InstanbulBy Elif Shafak“The Armenians and the Turks live in different time frames. For the Armenians, time was a circle in which the past incarnated in the present birthed in the future. For the Turks, time was a multi-hyphenated line where the past ended at a definite point and the present started anew from scratch, and there was nothing but rupture in between.”“The oppressor has no use for the past. The oppressed has nothing but the past.”Two young ladies Asya and Armanoush, both bookworms, one loves fiction, the other political philosophy. Both love music, one western the other ethnic music. They both have the most thought provoking dialogue I have read in a book for a while. With each chapter named after food, there is a lot of reference to food in this book, Turkish food, Armenian food and food as a love language. This is a story about a family with strong women, each one different and contributing something to the household. All the men in the family die young, around 40 years old. It’s a story about family secrets, love, loss, belonging and identity.Very interesting with a massive plot twist at the end.

Excellent author
Having first come across Elif Shafak by reading her book Island Of Missing Trees, I wanted to read more books by her. So far, I have only finished Honour which was bitter-sweet and harrowing at the same time. She touches on sensitive subjects like no other author and binds together her works and her readers. This story and its messages will stay with me. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to go on a journey of discovery.
