Perfect OEM Replacement Shifter Cable Kit
This is an awesome shifter cable replacement kit. It comes with everything you need for a nice little upgrade to shifters that aren’t performing at their peak level. If you find that no matter how much you twist your shifter barrels back and forth to get just the right shifter adjustment and it’s not working, you need to replace your cables. I decided to pick up this kit to replace the shifter cables on my wife’s bike and she immediately noticed a major performance difference when shifting. The kit was relatively easy for me to install, but I also grew up working in a bike shop for over seven years of my older child/young adult life. For those without that level of experience, the instructions explain everything you need to know in order to install these cables yourself, but you will need a bit of resourcefulness since not all shifters are the same. The kit comes with top-level Shimano cable housing, two shifter cables (one short and one long), cable housing ends, and cable tips to ensure the cables don’t fray, causing them to lose their tightness and power. Installing this shifter cable kit is a great way to bring life back to your bike, especially if you’re frustrated with the performance of your shifters and don’t know why they’re so problematic. For the cost, this is a great replacement set with Shimano quality and performance proven over decades.

Excellent product.
I decided to make an attempt to restore my “old school” Raleigh M60 mountain bike and replacing the shifter cables and shifter cable housing among other things was required.I am not a bike tech but I like to learn in the fly and was successful, thanks to the kit. There are no instructions but honestly, they weren’t needed. The amount of shifter cable housing that came with the kit was more than adequate for my bike and I imagine for many bikes.Since the number of housing end caps varies on bikes, hold onto the ones you have just in case you need them. Also, it really helps to have the right tools. I already had a Park cable cutter but I had to use my dremel to cut the housing because none of my non-bike specific cutters worked without damaging the housing core.I crafted a “jig” (see image) with a thin piece of wood that had a hole to accommodate the housing. I marked the housing where I needed to cut it, inserted it through the hole and cut it with the dremel cutting wheel — flush to the wood and perpendicular to the cable housing. Voila! Done deal! Nice and straight shifter housing.Images1- new housing for shifters2- shifter for housing headed toward the derailleurs3- shifter housing from the seat post going to rear and front derailleurs4- my simple “shifter cutting jig.” Can’t believe I came up with it.This kit was excellent and more than adequate to get the job done. I would recommend it.

Rear cable not long enough for recumbent bike.
The rear cable is approximately 6 inches too short for my Bacchetta Recumbent. The front cable was fine, and everything else went smoothly.

Everything You Need to Replace your Bike Shift Cable
The rear derailleur on my kid's Trek 4300 Mountain Bike was no longer working as it should. After buying a replacement derailleur (Shimano Acera, from Amazon too) and installing it, I noticed that the shift cable and housing were messed up. So I bought this Shimano Shift Cable Kit. It comes with everything you need. The job seems to be a little intimidating but after watching a few YouTube videos I was able to replace the rear derailleur, the shift cable and the housing rather easily. The bike is shifting great now! Cable fit perfectly in my Shimano 8 speed V-Brake. I would recommend buying real cable cutters though, much cleaner cut and you can return it the next day and tell HD that they didn't work for you. It doesn't hurt that I feel like a Bike Mechanic God when I finished the job. :o)

Awesome kit
Kit worked great, had all the parts I needed to replace a cable and housing after an unfortunate encounter with a rock destroyed my derailleur and kinked the shift cable. Glad to find this kit and to have the extra cable and housing material for any future needs.

OEM Shimano
There is only the best - Shimano, and something less. The two cables included are long enough to both reach the rear shifter on my Focus hardtail, so really good for two replacements on a 1/12 or 1/11 setup. Lots of cable housing included, which should be plenty for any frame, even way more than enough for a couple of replacements on frames with internal cable routing. Lots of spare cable ends and a couple of crimp on anti-fray caps. I've tried other manufacturers and they all fall short of Shimano quality and function.

Easy install
I'm getting into bike restoration. I put these on my first project bike and they went on easily and are shifting smooth. I have not experienced much stretch since installing.
