Authentic Samurai Figure/Figurine: Armor Series#1-Date Masamune

Im not a historian, big collector, or expert on figurines, just a guy who is a big fan of samurai films and the old pc game shogun:total war. So ive been wanting to buy a somewhat affordable collectible/figure to represent that obsession for quite a while now. I might have finally found it.Once you open the amazon box, you take out what has to be one of the ugliest brownish boxes ive ever seen. You open that box and you get the actual contents: the parts in a plastic cover, the flimsy plastic display case, instructions, mini-poster of all the figures(nice bonus). The product box, instructions, and poster/map are all in japanese. I didnt know you had to put this together(thought it came as pictured). But its easy enough to assemble without the need for instructions. As you put it together you will notice some nice detail(armor) and that some parts are more durable than others(sword is really nice). (Note: i posted a pic on amazon to show whats in the box if my description is confusing)Why this figure out of all the others? Date masamune was always a favorite general when i played shogun total war, and ive seen a couple of samurai films where toshiro mifune has that crescent moon shaped symbol on his helmet so this was a no-brainer. Having said that, due to the all-black nature of the armor, having it in the plastic display case is almost pointless as its just one big black shadow with the cool crescent moon symbol to set it apart. This figure is best on its own out of the case. All is not lost though, the plastic case is see-through in the back so if you have a light source behind it, it sort of illuminates the huge banner/symbol behind the armor giving it a cool effect.Overall, recommended. But if you dont have a bias towards that crescent moon symbol, you should probably go with the just as cool/more colorful looking imagawa yoshimoto or yamamato kansuke figures. As to whether this is worth 40 straight-up(free shipping and no tax which is odd since im in an amazon-taxed state), i will let you decide. Im not an expert to know if the materials used are worth 40 or not. And its not a toy(no poseable figure), just the armor so it just makes for a nice decorative piece than anything. I know im ok with spending 40 on mine and am itching to add a few others to it. Perhaps a sale in the future? Amazon, samurai market you listening?

Perfect size showcase of Date Masamune Armor on my house mantle. On my Japanese side of our family have genealogy connections to the Date Clan. This gives me a great idea to remember by my forefathers in a Japanese history. At first I thought he was a Shogun but later learn he was a Daimyo.

食玩に負けてる。刀だけ残して処分するかも。安っぽいプラと金属、紐くらいプラで済まさないで欲しかった。写真って怖いですね。

伊達政宗の鎧兜の雰囲気が良く再現されていると思う。買って良かったです。
