Really helping!
On Nov 4, 2022 my 17yr old Chantilly Tiffany cat was diagnosed with Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease with only 25% kidney function. The tips of her ears were curling down and she looked like she was losing weight. She had a poor appetite and wasn't engaging with us much. The vet said she had maybe 6 months to a year left. Online I read about phosphorus binders and after comparing brands I bought Trukitin. She weighs 5 lbs so I give her 5grams twice a day mixed into a Churu. I bought a tiny drug dealer scale here to weigh out 5 grams which I put in little craft containers from the $ store so I'm only bringing out the scale and doing all the weighing once a week. We put her on the Hill's KD chicken pate prescription cat food which she reluctantly started eating (she also eats the tuna flavor). She would eat the Churu with the Trukitin easily but only 1/8 of a can of the prescription food per day. We were thinking this was it and we would have to start deciding when to end her suffering if she wasn't eating. I offered her the food multiple times a day. After about 2 weeks she started perking up and eating more! She averages 1/2 to 3/4 of a can of the Hill's, plus 2 tubes of Churu and a packet of Delectables Soft Pate Likable Treat left out overnight in case she's hungry at night (which she eats). Her ears have also returned to their normal pointiness! The Trukitin doesn't have any flavor (I tasted the powder) but its slightly chalky which the creamy Churu masks. On December 2, 2022 my cat had bloodwork. The vet said her creatinine dropped from 3.7 in early November to 2.7 now, early December. Her BUN also dropped from 75 to 46. The vet says she is looking wonderful, her labs are great and my picky eater actually gained a touch of weight too! The vet enthusiastically said "Keep doing what you're doing!" A friend recommended Scruffy Paws Kidney Vitalize soft chews which I crumbled into her food but she didn't like the flavor. I tried those malt nutrition gels too but she wouldn't eat them. I add 1/8tsp of light corn syrup to her food to add calories and she DOES eat that and it hasn't had any adverse effect on her blood sugar. Remember, she's 17 and normally very very small so the doses I give are based on her weight of 5lbs. I'm writing all this in case you are looking to help your cat with CKD. Trukitin has turned her around! She is eating, hanging around us and spontaneously plays! There is no cure for CKD and she still makes massive pees in her litter box and drinks a lot of water but the quality of her life has DEFINITELY increased. This product is absolutely worth trying!

Short and sweet: it works
I’ll keep it short and sweet: Our cat has been on this for six months and we just got his test results that his kidneys are doing better than they were six months ago.

Helping our dog
Our black lab was diagnosed with severe kidney disease back in June. We recently visited the vet, and he is impressed with how well the dog is doing under the circumstances. We credit this supplement and Science Diet K/D for giving us more time with our furry friend. We don't know how long we'll have, but this powder is extending that time for now.

Strong fungus Odor / Quality Concerns
I purchased this Trukitin to try for my elderly cat, as her Epakitin had run out . It was a few dollars cheaper and has the same Ingredients, I assumed it would be the same . It very much is NOT the same quality! When I opened it , it has a Very STRONG ODOR , and is a light tan color compared to the almost white Epakitin powder: This bottle of Trukitin smells like FEET or TOENAILS or mold , and has a chlorine chemical note as well. It absolutely made me feel nauseous when I opened the lid . I don’t know if it is the Brand ‘Doggy Naturals’ or this batch - but it has gone bad , They have a no return policy, and I would never give this to my cat.I ordered a bottle of my regular Epakitin after, to compare- and it has almost no scent at all, zero in comparison . It is lighter in color and nothing to give me the concern that it had GONE BAD , like this Trukitin does . I messaged the seller to let them know they might have a quality issue with this batch, and received NO RESPONSE. This is obviously concerning as the health and well being of my dear pet is why I ordered the product. I would want the seller/ manufacturer of this supplement product to care as well. Here is the expiration date and batch # At least I assume it’s a batch number .#304171Expiration 06/2025I will just spend the few extra bucks and get the trusted brand . I urge you to consider carefully before buying this product.Update: 11/1/23The seller has refunded my money because of this review. I thank them, but they still did not address the quality concerns I have with this product . That is the real issue here. Remember folks- This product should have Little to No odor. I sincerely hope they are doing some investigating about this internally. I suspect however they are not . Buyer be ware .

Effective & Excellent Value
My 17 year old cat is suffering from kidney issues and the vet put him on a phosphorous binder. We started with another brand that was quite expensive. Then I discovered this alternate brand on Amazon (thanks, reviewers!). I tried the smaller size of Trukitin and the cat didn't turn up his finicky nose at it so I reordered the larger size which is an excellent value. My cat just had his follow-up visit with the vet after being on Trukitin for 5 months and the vet was very pleased by a 1.5 pound weight gain and good blood panel. Strongly recommend Trukitin for efficacy and value proposition.

My Cat Can Eat This Binder
The theory is that this product is good for protecting fragile kidneys in cats. My cat is still alive after a year and doing well after two vets said she was incurable and likely to die within weeks. This product is my latest addition to her care. The most important aspect is that she will eat wet food into which this powder is mixed. I have two other products that she will not ingest. No matter how good, it is worthless if she won't eat it. So that is why I am giving it my highest recommendation. As to usage, I buy her a variety of wet food and give her a small amount in the morning every day. In it, I mix this Chitosin powder of one dose measured by the spoon that is included. I mix it very thoroughly and add a few drops of water (drops) to make it more lickable. In a few sessions, my cat usually eats all of it. You have to leave it there for a few hours, because one time may not be enough. Cats with kidney disease usually will not eat a lot, and especially at any one time.
