Schmidt's Deodorant Schmidt's Natural Deodorant, Cedarwood + Juniper 2 Ounce

I'm really quite pleased with this product and the customer service I received from Schmidt's when something was amiss with my first order.This type of deodorant is great if you're someone like me who has oddly deep armpits, or if you're just not very fond of stick application. I also have somewhat sensitive skin there, and so far both the jar and stick varieties of Schmidt's Cedarwood Juniper haven't bothered me aside from a rare occasional itch. Typical coverage is probably somewhere between 4-9 hours depending on your level of activity and how often/how much your body sweats. It's satisfying that all of these things can be achieved in a natural deodorant.The deodorant itself is simple enough to use, especially with the provided spatula. You scoop a small amount, rub it between your fingers, and then apply. Its consistency is almost comparable to a chilled animal fat—sort of a cross between a wax and a paste. The pliability is good, and it doesn't flake too much.The scent is something you might expect to smell when passing certain evergreen hedges. It's clean, subtle, and not an obvious synthetic fragrance like many of the deodorants I've used.The first order I placed had an issue. When the jar arrived, it was unsealed, missing its spatula, and the contents had shifted to one side. After contacting Schmidt's through the customer service email they provide, they explained how the contents sometimes slightly melt and resettle. They then offered to send me a new jar with an extra spatula at no cost, mailed in heat resistant packaging (which can be requested when ordering directly from them, apparently). A few days later, I received the new jar and extra spatula. It seems all of their jars aren't actually "sealed" as you might expect, so this isn't something to be alarmed about. Your jar should have a spatula inside though.From my experience, I found Schmidt's customer service to be impressive in their expedience and willingness to accommodate me, the customer. It is a pleasure to buy from a company that cares about both their product and the person using it. I would definitely recommend this deodorant for its ease of use, practical reliability, and well-formulated natural composition.

For a variety of reasons, I don't like using regular deodorants everyday, so I was looking for a natural deodorant without harmful chemicals. Here's my breakdown of this one:1) Odor: It's got an aromatic fragrance, close to mastic or some spice. I find it more of a unisex fragrance, neither super feminine nor super masculine. It's also not very strong, so once I applied it, I can still smell it, but after a couple of hours the odor sort settles down and you can't smell it much. There's NO sweat odor too, so don't worry.2) Application: It comes in a small jar with a small spatula for application. The texture is gritty and somewhat firm, not cream-like. To apply it, scrape off some of the deodorant using the spatula and you can either use your fingers to rub it into your armpits or rub it first in between your fingers till it spreads a little bit then use your fingers to apply. I tend to use the latter method, since I have "manly" underarms and it's easier to apply it that way.3) Effectiveness: Surprisingly this deodorant worked great for me. I have initially tired it during the fall, when the weather wasn't so hot, but I've been using it since then during hot days as well. It lasts throughout the day and while it does not block sweat (you still sweat like you normally do), no sweat odor was apparent until I get home. It can also stay effective till next day if you don't shower at night or something.4) Consumption: Typically, I use a small sized amount each time, and I find that using this, on a daily basis, it has lasted for me more than 6 weeks.

This product is the generic version of Primal Pit - like a knock off. Paste is hard and dried out (Primal Pit is creamier and much easier to manage). With Schmidt's, I have to smash the product into my underarm and let the heat of my underarm and fingers melt it before I can smooth it onto my skin. The light fragrance only stays for an hour or so. This product fight odor only for several hours then needs to be reapplied. Not sure what the hype is for this, but I personally will not be buying again. Have found many more effective items such as Primal Pit or my new favorite: Skin 2 Spirit Sea Spray Coconut and Lime Natural Deodorant made with Magnesium Oil from the Dead Sea***Update - I gave Schmidt's Natural Deodorant a second change, and tried the Geranium Sensitive Skin Formula. I am blown away with this product - it has a smoother formula, long lasting smell, and is effective for 100+ degree weather in Las Vegas. My faith is restored in the Schmidt's product, and I would be happy to purchase this particular product in the future.
