Additional comment,I bought ARCTIC Portable USB-Fan ABACO-BZG00-010000 from amazon tokeep batteries not to be heated.I noticed batteries are quite hot while charging so that I bought thisUSB fan to cool them down. It works good. This fan has short neck soit blows the air within a few inches from battery.------------------------------------------------------------------------I use NiMH batteries a lot, especially AA size and these days AAA size too.3 mini mags,Ham Radio transceivers, antenna analyzers, camera flash, bag repellent and so on,I use NiMH battery in all stuffs that require AA or AAA batteries at home. Most of the chargers have only 4 bays, so it was so trouble some to charge and keep allmy batteries in ready-to-use condition all the time.I have other real rapid chargers those which charging with 2Amp or more butthey do not have discharging function.First I was curious how this MD-1600L charging and used my pocket oscilloscope to seehow it works. It charges like common fast chargers,it charges with intermittent high voltage about 1.8V.According to specification, max 400mAmp makes sense for my feeling of charging time.but 400mApm charge is not really a rapid charge though it does good job. Also the manual does not mention about trickle charge after full charge but someadvertisements say, so I wonder if it does trickle charge or not after fully charging battery.Yes it does. It puts current of 350msec several times in a minutes. so it does trickle charge.About discharging, it stops discharging at around 1.0V. this is good though, I believe it isbetter to discharge till 0.8V to 'refresh' battery or to awake old battery.but anyway, discharge is functioning good.I think this one is, 'better to have' charger if you use AA or AAA NiMH batteries becausethe number of those batteries will be increased really once you started use them and muchcheaper than buying several 4 bay chargers. It charges not 'rapid' but fast enough, display helps to guess how long it still take to charge,2 USB charging out put are fancy, I like this charger very much and I can recommend it if you havea lot of AA & AAA NiMH batteries.I am thinking to buy another one to keep 32 batteries in ready-to-use condition.

Excellent and easy to read!
I spent way too much time agonizing over which battery charger to buy to replace my very old Rayovac PS3 Original Universal Charger, and once I settled on this, I still wasn't sure I'd made the right choice. It didn't have a familiar brand name and it wasn't being sold *directly* by Amazon (two factors which could have been indicators of lower quality). Well, I just received it today and I am in love :) It's is unobtrusive and works exactly as shown in the u-tube video review (look it up). However, there were a few things not completely clear to me even from the video review, so I'll mention those here:- This charger is for Ni-MH batteries ONLY.- When charging, one bar on the battery icon blinks to show it is going up to the next level (or down if you are discharging), but when fully charged, the full battery icon is displayed *without* any blinking (so it is obvious when your battery is done charging).- The instructions say it will take about 4.7 hours to fully charge an 850 mAh AAA battery and 6.8 hours to charge a 2700 mAh AA battery. However, the charging times were either much faster than this or it sometimes takes a bit of time for the unit to register the actual level of charge in the batteries. I think the latter explanation is more likely because I ordered three packages of brand new eneloop batteries that were all supposed to be pre-charged. When I put them in the charger, they registered only on the bottom bar for the first few minutes (<25% charge), but within 20 minutes they were all the way to the top bar (>75% charge). I also charged some older Energizer rechargeable Ni-MH batteries; two just kept blinking the 'full battery' signal (which indicates the battery is either bad or old), so I went ahead and threw them out (they hadn't been holding a charge very long when I had been using them anyway). The others charged quickly and got warmer than the eneloops (though never too hot to touch), and the charger seemed to identify the charge level of the Energizers more quickly than the eneloops. None of the batteries took more than an hour to show a full charge, including the Energizers I already knew were mostly depleted prior to charging.Again, I love this charger. It is so easy to read, it detected my significantly weakened/old batteries as defective, it charged each battery independently (no need for 'pairs' to be put in the charger for it to work), it looks great, and it seems pretty much fool proof.
