My third Zebco 808 combination.
We use ours for surf fishing and they are perfect, easy to cast, easy to reel in and easy to clean after using for multiple days in the saltwater environment. For r, the price range and our use they are perfect, I also have open face spinning reels and rods, but usually use the 808 for artificial bait and spinner lurs and DOA type set ups. Two comments would like to see a bigger line capacity, just in case we hook a fighter, but thus far have not loss any fish due to line length. Second, would encourage Zebco to offer parts for repair of their reels, lost on reel to breakage of a very thin brass component, which prevented the reel from backing up. don't have a picture of it, but when you clean yours, you will see it in the back where the gears are. Either comment won't keep me from buying another one if needed!

Respool for best performance
Seems good, if your having any issues with zebco or other spin cast reels I’d suggest upgrading the line and respool the reel. I took two of these to bass pro, they said they don’t respool these, so I did it myself. Reel now casts 100x better than original spool. Also learned a trick, when respooling-put new line in bucket of water to hold it versus the spool on pencil or screwdriver approach. I respooled with P Line, CX premium, 8 bucks for 300 yards, claims to be thin with low memory-I think low memory might be they key. As repeated casting and realing is what’s jams up these spin cast reels.

Can’t go wrong with an old school Zebco
Been on a good bit of saltwater trips and my father in law still loves it. I keep it oiled and it just as smooth as ever

Zebco let me down
USED 1 time on vacation. Pole broke, the reel was not working correctly. Drag wasn't working. These are junk. Not worth the money. Now I have no time to return them. JUNK JUNK ...
