My initial impression was very favorable! The wooden ball is well finished and the metal (stainless(?) and brass) are solid, and I appreciate the lanyard attach point. As ball starters go I am happy this one. I have been front-loading since 1983 so have bought and lost a couple. Here's my negative comment. As normal, the starter has 2 fixtures requiring a jag point to push the bullet (good profile to not distort the plastic tip insert of modern 50 cals). But the starter comes with only 1 jag. So I ask, in the heat of hunting and needing to reload, how easy is it to seat the bullet with the short jag, then I am supposed to unscrew the jag point with gloves in the cold, and screw it onto the long starter. Cold, clumsy, adrenaline pumping! This should come with a jag screwed into both points. As it is now, I have to go find a separate jag so I can move through the process easily and uninterrupted. I would have been happy to pay an extra $1.xx to have a second jag included.
