Great monitor for the money
Great monitor for the money. The resolution is very good, and the color is acceptable. However this display doesn't have the best contrast. In comparison to my previous Mac 27" cinema display, this monitor comes close. You get what you pay for.

A Truly Outstanding Monitor for So Many Reasons ...
This is a remarkable monitor, particularly when you consider it's price point. This thing is able to put out 3840 x 2160 as its native setting, which is 4K, and it shows the minute you turn it on. A superb picture with sharpness and clarity that I've never seen before. A series of settings allows either automatic or manual calibration of saturation, sharpness, color tone, etc., and the menu is easy to figure out and use, too. A real bonus--and for many of this, this bonus cannot be overlooked--is that the screen not only can be easily raised or lowered on its main stand, but it also ROTATES, which means that if you are working on documents, you can just spin the screen and you can work on your document in a manner that really is effective because the pages are now so large (that's because, of course, that the way we normally read printed pages and the way we look at monitor screens are 90 degrees "out of sync" with one another; this rotational ability address that issue). The image quality itself, like the predecessor model it replaces, is first rate, and whether you are using it for editing and viewing of photographs (which I do a lot of), watching videos, or just reading the news, you have a new experience. I also routinely use a MacBook Pro with Retina screen, and I would swear (and I just don't know this for sure) that the pixel pitch and resolution on this monitor is higher even than the Retina display. It's that good.Another great thing about this monitor is that comes equipped with virtually every attachment port possible: DisplayPort, HDMI, etc, and also two built-in USB 3.0 ports (thank you!). And the physical design of the monitor is very, very nice. A dark grey color with just the right level of accenting makes it attractive without being gaudy. And, to boot, the monitor is actually quite light. Finally, a little thing that is not much known about this monitor (and this may or may not be of interest to you) is that you can purchase a custom Samsung stereo speaker panel that integrally connects to the bottom back of the monitor, out out site, but there in case you want to listen to something without cranking up your entire stereo system that you've likely got your computer connected to.For the price, this monitor is unbeatable. Based on my own experience, I would say that it is at the very top of the price/capabilities ratio, and it may be all you ever need, even if you are a semi-professional photographer. But as I say, even if all you are doing is working on is documents, the rotational ability, a very, very rare feature among monitors, is not to be underestimated. I'd give it seven stars if they would let me!One *Minor* NegativeAs mentioned, this monitor rotates. It is exceptionally easy to raise and lower the monitor, which was very surprising. One MINOR, and I stress, MINOR, issue is that, when you wish to rotate the monitor, you have to raise it to it's highest point (which is not surprising, given how wide the monitor is), but then, you have to TILT the monitor forward a bit, or the bottom right corner of monitor will hit the table as you try to rotate it. It's a bit annoying that you can't just rotate it in the same plane without also having to tilt, but once you know it, you just incorporate that action into the rotation.ALSO ... if you are a Windows user, the software supplied with the monitor will allow for auto rotation of the screen's contents when you physically rotate the monitor, but if you are hooking this up to a Mac, you will have to go to the Apple system preferences and manually click "90 degrees." I'm not sure why Samsung does not supply the monitor with software for both Windows and Mac, but again, this is a minor irritation when you compare it to the image quality it produces.

got some eye strain since it has 60hz as the highest refresh rate
had moderate eye strain since I couldnt get more than 60 hz out of the refresh rate. Very ergonomic but can't deal with low refresh rate.some people deal well with 60hz but I don't. now have a 75hz monitor and no problems. I am a heavy pc user for work & it is important. My previous 27" viewsonic had 85hz and never a hint of eyestrain. bought the Asus 32" monitor & it works like a dream.

Excellent monitor 4K or not.
I recently purchased this to replace my 6 year old 22 inch 1080p monitor. I have looked at different models from Dell, to LG, and Samsung and I settled on this. Reason I purchased this version rather than the cheaper one from Samsung is because of the additional features this monitor offers over the other model. For example the Samsung U28E590D 28-Inch. The model I purchased here offers more ports and it allows for title, height adjustment and even flip the monitor 90 degrees into portrait mode. I almost purchased the Dell Ultra 4K HD monitor, but wanted this monitor for a bit faster response time because I play some games on my computer. Hooking this up to my Mac Pro Retina is a no-brainer, either using the dp connector that comes with the monitor or use a HDMI connector. For me the HDMI 4K resolution at its max is too much for my eyes and the refresh rate is a bit low for my taste (30 instead of the preferred 60 hz). So far, after about a month of use, I have still very happy with my purchase.

Amazing.
It looks amazing. Just remember the fast charge mode will disable the two side ports from acting as normal USB 2.0 ports.
