Are men threatened by this movie??.....not as bad as many say...
I think the reason this film is being trashed by so many reviewers is because this scenario could & probably has happened to men, first off I will say I am not a fan of Eli Roth in any way, his "Hostel" films I refuse to watch, I don't mind gore if it serves the story, but those films are just gory for the sake of being gory, at first I had reservations about watching this one, but having seen Ana De Armas in the recent "Blade Runner 2049" & being a fan of Keanu Reeves I figured it was time to give this one a look seeing that she is in it & it being a $5.00 add-on-item, I figured why not, because of the reviews I expected to hate this film but was pleasently surprised at how effective its suspense was, suspense thrillers are rare in films these days....now on too the review....Like many suspense thrillers before it, this is a cautionary tale about a married guy who's wife is gone away for the weekend, it doesn't help that early on she postpones a sex morning with him, so he is sexually fustrated to begin with, but focuses on his work as an architect but then he hears a knock at the door & discovers two women in the rain who are looking for shelter, being a good guy who thinks he is doing a good deed he lets them in & agrees to call them a cab, but while waiting they begin to seduce him, watching him resist the temptation is fun because we know as viewers he is going to cave & cave in he does as he finds them naked in his bathroom & they go down on him & then temptation takes over & a threesome results, it should be noted that the two women are seen naked for less than a minute, not a lot as one reviewer said (were they watching to same movie??) the next morning Reeves wakes up to find the girls in his kitchen making a mess of epic proportions & it is clear they don't want to leave, when he threatens to call the police they say they are underage, eventually he takes them home only to find them back in his home & meaner than ever as they play torturous psychological warfare on him & we are given this morality tale that says that all men no matter how much they love their wife & children, they can never resist temptation when seduced, which appears to be true for the most part & this film like "Fatal Attraction" (1987) & "Derailed" (2005) before it drives that point home, which is why I think so many are trashing it.....they see themselves in this movie & knows its true.....simply put this is a cautionary tale of morality & why you should never let strangers in your home, I myself actually had 3 girls knock on my door claiming to be part of a church group who wanted to talk to me about Jesus while this movie was in theatres, no way did I let them in, they probably were part of a church group soliciting believers & new members, but I wasn't about to find out......especially knowing about this movie in 2015....however, I think the alternate ending should have stayed simply because they slip up while targeting their next victim....won't spoil it here.I put this one right up there with films like..."The Hitcher" (1986, 2007).....never pick up strangersDisturbia (2007).....never spy on your neighbors"JoyRide" (2001).....never play pranks on truck drivers"Single White Female" (1992).....make your rent affordable."Knock Knock" may have some suspension of belief moments, but it is a unique thriller that probably has happened.

A Sickening Flick That Has ABSOLUTELY No Redeeming Story Value Whatsoever... In Other Words, Business As Usual For Eli Roth
Knock KnockDirected by Eli RothLionsgateKnock Knock is the latest film by famed horror director Eli Roth featuring the star Keanu Reeves. This movie was released in limited theatres this October though various online services like Amazon Instant Video do offer ways to see it on your home devices.Knock Knock is a remake of the 1977 movie, Death Game, and is modernized for a younger generation of movie aficionados. By now, anyone who knows Eli Roth's work knows that most of his movies feature depraved and sickening debauchery on an unimaginable level, in fact the director is well known for it and is probably why he is such a famous name in Hollywood now.Keanu Reeves plays Evan, a family man who is seduced by two young women, knocking on his doorstep one raining night, into breaking his marriage vows. Lorenza Izzo and Ana de Armas play the two seductresses who seduce, and later torment, Evan. Overall the acting was great, Keanu Reeves brings his A-game playing the husband who realizes too late that he made a mistake, and his two female costars do a great (and sickening) job of portraying two psychotic female antagonists. Unfortunately, however, the acting may be the best part of this film. The plot itself is intriguing enough to warrant a passerby's attention (the story of one man seduced by two women and then has to fight for his own survival) but as the film progresses, it's pretty clear that the movie is more about showcasing horror than telling any form of decent story. The primary antagonists have illogical methods to their madness; in one scene, they are trying to cover up their involvement but by the end of the movie, they leave plenty of evidence indicating foul play.It is revealed that the reason the two women seduced Evan was because they wanted to punish men for being cheaters and refer to how all males are the same. Despite this, it is also clear that these two aren't only interested in destroying Evan's life, they are also interested in destroying his family's life as well by vandalizing some of his wife's most prized possessions, her art, as well as drawing obscenities like penises and the word "whore" on pictures of their children. By the end of the movie, the audience is supposed to believe that the two antagonists are some sort of avenging angels/demons who are supposed to represent karmic justice when it's clear that anything but has happened. The harm done to innocents in this movie is expected in this type of genre as producers often worry that if innocent people aren't hurt then it might inspire viewers to mimic the movie's antagonists however in doing this, many of the characters' actions are illogical where alternative tactics might very well have ended the movie sooner. As a reviewer, I often don't have a problem with "contradictory motives" or "illogical actions" so long as they help develop the story in some way whether it's the plot or a character's arc, but in this film it's just sick to see how long the movie can last. While Knock Knock does have a unique premise (more unique than your typical slasher), it ultimately is ruined because it goes overboard with "torture porn" while providing little motif or plot value to the story. As the film goes on, the atrocities committed by both female antagonists to Evan is a tribute to the actors'/actress's capabilities in performing onscreen but they also serve as a demonstration to how obsessed the director is to mindless violence with no deeper theme or reason. Ultimately by the end of the film, real life cheaters may get more sympathy from the public while at the same time wives who fall apart due to their spouse's betrayal might just be frowned upon for not being able to control themselves.I don't usually include spoilers in my review, but this is a VERY important detail that I feel worth mentioning. Read on for spoilers regarding the ending:<Spoiler Alert>It is also revealed that the antagonists not only want to destroy their victims but also want to expose them to the world for their cheating ways. However by the end of the story, they have not only victimized Evan but his entire family as well to the point that nobody would believe their story. Despite the fact that Evan was legitimately seduced into having an affair, any evidence or physical proof the two women may have indicating this can be immediately be thrown out should Evan decide to tell people he was tortured and coerced into cheating (something he does attempt to do on the phone to his wife at the end) and judging by the amount of destruction the two have caused, nobody would have difficulty believing him.<Spoiler Alert>

An interesting departure for Eli Roth
As far as remakes go this is an interesting departure for Eli Roth. He managed to capture what made the original film great and added new elements that make it current. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great psychological thriller with great performances from some of Hollywood’s greats.

Proprio non capisco come si possa recensire negativamente questo film. A me è piaciuto tantissimo, il finale tanto criticato è assolutamente sopra le righe e perfetto così com è secondo me.
