Train the Trainer ... Excellent Resource
I am a Senior Training Supervisor. After years of training experience, I felt better qualified to teach my trainers the core foundation of training, instead of sending them to local train the trainer courses. The problem was I did not have the time to create a program from scratch. I did extensive research on what is availalbe on the market before making this purchase. The investment in this book is paying divedends to developing and improving the quality of my trainers.Although you can run the program from the book and disk as created, it also allows for modifications. You can take the base program and add, delete, or tweak each presentation or lesson to fit better with your program. I completely customized the design of the PowerPoint and class handouts (still giving credit to the author.) This gave the program the look and feel of other company certification programs. I also updated clip art and changed some basic graphics to give the presentation a more polished and professional look. This presentation is meant to given over a 3 day period. To better fit our schedule I worked with the content to present in eight 2 1/2 hour courses.Over all I've followed the presentation of the material in the sequence it's meant to be presented. It's excellent core material that follows the ADDIE principles and includes Adult learning concepts, managing the classroom, and pushes the creativity scale up a level. If your skills are similar to mine ... the price of this book is a bargain compared to other products on the market.

It's a good book, but
The book itself is very "training" focused. Repetitive, in ideology and process. It restates the process multiple times which is probably a good thing as a learner who doesn't notate as they read. Not to say the book is a waste, but in the first chapters I believe I read the same statements well over 5 times using the same sentences or phrases. The remainder of the book I am still going through, but the author gives the impression that it may be used as a reference as needed for a given scenario. That may explain the repetition, but thus far, I don't like the way it has started out.It does give a good viewpoint of most individuals who don't consider themselves as trainers (Supervisors, Managers, and Front Line staff) many times are "training" even though it isn't in a formal setting. In the myriad of organizations I've been associated with over the years I have seen that many leaders of organizations have never been exposed to this essential material.
