Easy Recommendation
I must've watched this film about 5 times now, but I loved every second of it each time. I would 100% recommend it to anyone to enjoys sci-fi, though I'd also suggest watching the series first to get a better understanding of the plot.

A wonderful swansong to an incredible show
Set after the series, Okabe and the motley crew at Future Gadget Lab are getting on with their lives. However, one day, the mad scientist vanishes and only Kurisu can remember him - but why? What happened and what will it take to get him back?Steins Gate was a peerless show, one of the best game adaptations and a solid piece of YA sci-fi. The endearing characters, mix of humour and out-there science and lack of held-punches carries over to here, a last adventure with the crew. Indeed, it almost reads like a what-if, swapping Kurisu with Okabe as she faces a smaller but no less brutal version of Okabe's time-hopping ordeal from the series. It's an emotional ride as both her understanding of science, as well as her feelings for Okabe, go supernova and every high and low hits hard as she has to fight time itself to save him.Strong writing is only part of why the film succeeds: the animation is solid and colourful, albeit not quite as stylish as the show. The dub cast are uniformly excellent, with Nishimura getting to shine here with a role that goes from stern and cocky, to awkward and funny, to haunted and tortured with grace. It's a tour-de-force, and Tatum's Okabe is no slouch either, a little more mellow and sombre compared to before but it works great. Honestly, there's not much left to say: it's a terrific treat for fans.

Great film, but the digital copy isn't currently streamable in the UK
A great film, if you liked series 1 (watch that first) you'll like this. But a note on the included digital copy. I redeemed it on the funimation website, but it didn't appear in my library. After looking around a bit I found that it seems that Funimation no longer has the rights to stream it in the UK. To test this I connected up a VPN to the USA, and sure enough the film appeared in my library. I've contacted funimation support about it and they said they'll look into it (but from what I've heard about them I doubt anything will happen). So, if you want to watch the digital copy, be prepared to get a VPN to do so, at least for now.

The sequel to Steins;Gate
Load Region may be disputed as to whether it is canon, what isn't disputed is that it's an amazing sequel to Steins;Gate. The movie has a certain slice-of-life aspect to it, which we don't get to see all that much of in the main series (except the American OVA.)It mainly follows on Makise or is it Kurisutina, you'll have to argue with Okabe about that, discovering how a man she should know the name of suddenly disappears as a result of his PTSD from Steins;Gate. The movie can be confusing to watch (especially due to its few clashes with established rules of time travel within the Science Adventure universe) however if you push past it and squint it's an amazing movie. Also, an amazing ending song.
