Does the job well
My pocket knives are now as sharp as the day I got them! This works well on pocket and kitchen knives as well as scissors to give them a sufficient edge for everyday use. If you're looking for that ultra-fine "bragging rights" edge this will NOT do the job as it is too coarse. Getting that type of edge requires a bit more effort. This is the easiest sharpener I have used. As long as I consistently keep the correct angle and use light pressure I get satisfactory results. I could actually *feel* the blades getting sharper as I carved them against the sharpener.Cleanup is a snap. Just run it under the tap and scrub with your fingers. No oil to make a mess.Twine, rope, and zip-ties now part with ease. My wife is almost scared to touch her kitchen blades. Tomatoes now fear her.The only con is that there is not much of a guard to protect your hand when stroking towards yourself, so it takes more care. However, this is a pocket sharpener meant for quick jobs, so IMHO this minor safety concern does not trump the benefits.

Great portable sharpener for touch ups
Great piece of kit to quickly sharpen and give your knife a decent working edge. Biggest advantage is the size. With the thickness of two pencils side by side, and length slightly longer than a regular pen, this is easy to carry and add to any tool bag.Was easy to give my spyderco with vg10 steel to paper slicing sharpness. Would still recommend to strop after, but even without stropping it still gave it paper slicing sharpness. If it can sharpen vg10, it’ll definitely sharpen victorinox sak steel.Be aware this is with a knife that wasn’t super dull. For really abused knives you’d probably need a more robust knife sharpening system. But for edges that just need a quick touch up this has been a great tool.Quick tip: use the area of plastic where the ceramic stone is attached for a quick edge angle guide!

Perfect size, great for pocket knives. Easy storage spots.
Perfect size for my edc pouch. Works great, and easy to use. Great price for it, it is well made. Slim, and both sharpening areas work good.

Works great and convenient, but TERRIBLE UNSAFE instructions
The sharpening process works great, but it took me 10 minutes of internet research just to determine how to use this properly!Because it's not even remotely obvious if you're supposed to sharpen with the V notch (like cheap chef's knife sharpening kits) and then hone with the rod (again like for chef's knives), or sharpen with the rod (like a whetstone) and then hone with the V notch. You'd think this would come with clear instructions, but there's no actual directions, just the back of the package that mysteriously shows 1) a *kitchen knife* being gone over with the V notch, 2) a 20° blade angle (unclear what type of knife), and 3) a *swiss army knife* being gone over with the rod (and in an unsafe direction at that -- *towards* the body!). But these aren't numbered, so it's unclear if they represent the order (start with V notch, then rod) or if the V notch is meant for kitchen knives, and the rod is all you need for swiss army knives...?What the *heck*, Victorinox? How could you produce something so confusing?Well after watching several YouTube videos, including the official Victornix one on this product, it turns out the correct answer is 1) sharpen (it's not honing) the knife with the rod at the 20° angle, and in a safe direction (*away* from the body) and then 2) hone (it's not sharpening) the edge using the V notch.Great. I can do that. That's fine. But so why does Victorinox put the instructions in a *backwards order* on the packaging, use a *kitchen* knife in one of the illustrations (?!), and to top it all off, show the user sharpening the knife *towards* the body (unsafely)?? Victornix is generally a quality company, so it's truly bizarre to see them so completely and totally mess up what should be exceptionally simple instructions. So 5 stars, but minus 1 for the "instructions". What the heck, Victorinox.

Fantastic sharpener for small pocket knives!
I have whet stones. I have Diamond embedded sharpening plates. I have stropping boards. I’ve spent years sharpening my chisels and planes, getting propper angle and flattening and removing burrs. All great on flat blades. But every time I try to sharpen my curved, small pocket knives - I end up dulling them more!! I have $165 pocket knives I’d rather not ruin. So, I had dull every-day-carry pocket knives. Then I saw a YouTube video for this. It said “10 passes and it’s sharp”. Okay, I bought it. The fact that it was made by Victorinox, the makers of Swiss Army Knife, was reassuring. Also, it’s made in Germany, and they make good stuff. It came as expected and I used it.Wow! This is my new favorite sharpener! It is a ceramic shape, you can use it wet or dry. I use it dry, but wash the metal filings off when done(run it under the tap in sink). It has kind of a 4 sided diamond profile…so you can find your angle either drawing or pushing. Feels very smooth. It being so small makes it easy to find the angle on small pocket knife blades - you can move the blade or the sharpener stone. Particularly good on the start and end of the edge, where angle changes and flat stones won’t reach. Unlike kitchen knives, a pocket knife may be really curved and I need the full edge (maybe cutting some twine or rope on that curved bit). It really worked! 10 passes and I’ve got a great edge again after 2 years of dull knife! I just do 5 passes every now and then to keep it sharp. It’s right there on my nightstand near the other EDC knives. No mess to clean up or whet stone station to set up. Very convenient.100% recommend! Get it already!

Go on line to YouTube to learn how it actually works.
It works well as a sharpener. I went on line to see how to actually use it. After that, I sharpened all the kitchen knives for practice. Razor sharp to shave with. Yes, Shave with. I used it to sharpen my camping knives which I bought it for. Nice and compact to use and carry.
