The Unofficial ALDI Cookbook: Delicious Recipes Made with Fan Favorites from the Award-Winning Grocery Store

Love this book - delicious and easy recipes
Great cookbook! I liked the introduction - a lot of interesting ALDI store history and shopping tips. I love ALDI because I save so much money over the grocery store and it's usually better quality, but sometimes I run into the issue where ALDI has all the ingredients I need for a recipe, except one (capers or fresh chives, for example), and I have to run to the grocery store for one stinking item. This solves that problem using only products found at ALDI. There are a few beverage recipes (adult and non-alcoholic), as well as an appetizer chapter including instructions for a nice ALDI charcuterie board ("basic" and "stepped-up"), breakfasts, entrees, and desserts. I have had great luck with the recipes I've tried so far (the salmon with Dijon-parmesan is my new favorite for salmon), and it's introduced me to Everything Bagel Seasoning, which I've never had outside of bagels. I love to cook, and I like how the recipes range from simple (great for busy work nights) and more complex recipes. One of my pet peeves with cookbooks is that the dessert and drink chapters are as long or longer than the entrée chapters - most of us are not making drinks and dessert every time we cook but we make entrees every time we cook. This book is more entrée and side/appetizer heavy, which I find more practical in general. Added bonus: most recipes include an appetizing picture. All in all, I would highly recommend it and it's one of the rare cookbooks where I actually want to try 90% of the recipes. Looking forward to checking out the author's other books.

I want to make all the recipes!
I feel like this book was written for me! The introduction really spoke to me directly, as I have recently found a nice ALDI near our home. Now I understand the Aisle Of Shame! A friend just posted about that on FB, and I didn't get it. I want to become the next ALDI nerd. These recipes are simple and unintimidating, and I am confident that my whole family would eat every recipe in this book! I think it would be a fun project to actually make everything in it. Well, no adult beverages for the kids! What makes it seem so doable is that all the the ingredients are located in one store, and the names of the specific items are included, so I don't even have to guess which red or white wine to buy, as the author has it all spelled out clearly. I am excited to plan my next shopping trip to ALDI, based on the recipes I will make from this book. The hard part will be narrowing it down to just a few... my only fear is whether or not Vidalia onions are available at this time!

Great fun for Aldi fans!
I don’t think I ever appreciated Aldi as much as I did during the pandemic, when I found myself, for the first time ever, grocery shopping online. I was amazed at all of the items this rather small, unassuming store carried that I had never noticed in the past. If you’ve not been to Aldi, you need to give it a look, and make that look a careful one because you will be astounded by all that you see. Once you become a diehard Aldi shopper, as I have, then you need to investigate this delightful cookbook, that contains easy-to-prepare recipes to put all of your wonderful Aldi items to good use.The Unofficial Aldi Cookbook, Delicious Recipes Made with Fan Favorites from the Award-Winning Grocery Store by “certified Aldi nerd” Jeanette Hurt, is an absolute delight, and must have for Aldi aficionados. It is loaded with mouthwatering photos and easy to prepare recipes to suit every taste. Each recipe features at least one (generally more) Aldi product, and is written in clear and concise fashion. Seasoned cooks and novices alike will find this book of value. While it lacks an index, it makes up for it with a comprehensive table of contents featuring the location of every recipe, and divided into five different categories: Beverages; Sides, Appetizers, and Soups; Breakfast; Entrées; and Desserts.Recipes include dishes for every day fare — Swiss Steak and Tamale Pie — as well as those you can serve to company — Baked Salmon with Dijon Parmesan Sauce. There is even a section instructing in charcuterie, with a guide on how to create the basic cheese plate, or a stepped up version.Desserts are certainly not lacking. Offerings range from an easy and delicious Cannoli Dip, to the more complex Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pie, to the whimsical Poop Emoji Cupcakes with Milk Chocolate Frosting that younger members of the family will no doubt adore (and they look darned tasty, too!).Not only does this book need to be amongst the other books in your kitchen library (mine is in my “cult collection“), but imagine what a delightful gift it would make when placed in a basket full of Aldi products. I can envision this for Mother’s Day, as a housewarming gift, to welcome a new neighbor, or a new married couple.Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
