Good radio at a good price | Very few complaints
For $50, I really have no complaints. Being a volunteer firefighter, I tend to monitor the emergency channels more than HAM, and it’s nice to be able to walk around with it and listen.Battery life is fantastic, I’ve used the FM function to listen to music all day at work at high volume, and the battery still lasts the whole day. It’s nice to be able to monitor two channels at once, I can monitor fire and police, or fire and DPW, or really any combination of channels I want.I used Chirp to program it, and Chirp has some nice features like ability to automatically input common channels. I have all the marine channels in my radio, and I didn’t have to type them individually.I’ve used it once on the local fire repeater and the dispatcher heard fine, didn’t reply saying it was static or anything. The only bad things I have to say is the scan feature is too slow to be useful, and when I’m listening to FM, I can only hear the selected channel, I can’t hear both.Overall this is a great radio at an outstanding price with some nice features.

Great Radio for Repeater Work.
These radios replaced a few that quit working. This is the 3rd set for me in 12 years. These Baofeng radios are great for repeater work & short distance queso's. I started on amateur radio with a Baofeng uv-5 in early 2012 & I still use them. They last a surprising amount of time. For the money, these Baofeng radios are very hard to beat! These radios are low enough priced so if one breaks or is lost, it's not that big of deal. I've cross-banded with a mobile radio as well as a base station. The 8 watt claim is close. It can push 7 watts. I must add that you MUST have a VALID FCC Call Sign and not use if for anything but uhf & vhf. The fines can hurt or kill your bank account!

Great Radio Even without a License
We originally bought these radios to get longer distance coverage and safer footprint of communications in the field than the standard walkie talkies. Little did we know about licensing.First, from a reception standpoint, wonderful radio. Combined with the CHIRP software, was able to get up and listening to all sorts of local repeaters and even monitored several IRLP sessions and FLDIGI for over a month while study for the Technician exam. Also really like the dual band capability of playing FM radio stations and cutting into VHF/UHF transmissions as they come in. The scanning feature is great bonus, just make sure to skip stations not in the frequency range and/or digital. Then transmitting. once license started really learning about the value of this radio. it can work 8W on High mode and still have enough battery to last the afternoon. Not normal, but I am able to hit a repeater on top of a mountain from about 36 miles away in my hunting stand. Talk about a safety net and being able to call home should cellular no longer be an option. of course, this is with a whip antenna and NOT the rubber duck that it comes with. Use the 771 to get started and then moved to HYS tactical 800mm.i still use this radio as my primary throughout the day even after purchasing the Yaesu FT-991A. That is saved for serious night time operations. All in all, you cannot get a better performing radio that is easy to program for the money. Beats all of the Baofeng in my opinion hands down. Same platform, probably same electronics. I just really like the extra 3W.Thinking of buying a few more to keep at multiple locations without spending a fortune!

Meh
This is my second uv5r. The first being a baofeng. I liked the idea of electing the bigger battery and programming cable all in a bundle. Well the larger battery doesn't fit the tenway properly to make contact. It does make contact in my baofeng but barely. So a slight bump and the radio turns off. Also the programming cable is completely useless. My cpu can't pick it up or install the drivers so using it is a complete waste of time. The tenway radio works fine with all my other batteries and the small one included. So that's why it gets 3 stars. Consider just getting a baofeng and separate trusted batteries and programming cable.

Nice surprise, perfect and essential piece of kit!
Got this to realize my 3dprinted bulky cage was a bit big for the pouch.(a slimmed down button blocker is available online that works perfectly) the hand mic attachment has audio out for earpro and these guys are set up perfect for a quick emergency repeater. Uhf to vhf works perfectly, you dont have to mess with the vox just make sure you have a good plug(2.5mm to 3.5mmwired correctly) or a repeater box. Used a bad antenna(fake diamond)that burnt up the switch on one and they were quick to replace it as well as one that had a keypad issue(nothing major just a number that was hard to press). The circuits and steel core seem to be the same as baofeng without FM reciever module everything else is the same just not labled.

Great radio but charging dock iffy
After about a month of daily use just playing around with programming and frequencies in my area I plugged the UV5R pro into its dock station to charge however this time I noticed the LEDs were extremely faint. I figured maybe it was a fluke but next morning I noticed the dock LED lights didn't even come on in the radio was completely dead. So I'll end up ordering a new replacement charging dock unfortunately but as for the radio it's a great buy.
