Mystics at Prayer (Rosicrucian Order AMORC Kindle Editions)

This book does an excellent job of teaching us how to pray. Some of my favorite parts are where they how they explain how to accept "God's will" and the mental state that we should be in before and during prayer. This book really helped my understand the process of prayer. Prayers of today have changed immensely from the past when they were more in tune with their faith. As the book states, to ask God for some material item or anything in particular is to suggest that he does not know what you need or what is best for your soul growth. And we wonder why our prayers seem ineffective. Learn how to properly ask for God's blessings. This book really drove home how we should approach our communion with God - with respect. Short read, but well worth it.

Prayers gathered from many different belief systems that connects one to Divinity. Each author has one or two offerings. No additional information on the underlying wisdom tradition they represent or references for more information. An interesting read.

While very poetic in nature I didn't find many of these prayers in applicable language for today's language of prayer. I try to live authentically so I wouldn't pray with a bunch of deep thees thous and thousts. But the deep heartfelt sentiment is there regarding the reverence and thankfulness one must have in order to prepare and approach in prayer. So that was very insightful. I look forward to reading more Rosicrucian books to further my understanding. Thank you for you time in reading my review. I hope it helps you.

Living your life as a mystic it's important to devour the stories of others so as to find your place, if you are among them. Beyond that this makes for interesting reading for anyone interested in the life of a mystic

This book is awesome. If you follow a Contemplative, Mystical Christianity path do yourself a favor and get it. It's very informative. What I like most is it's full of awesome prayers. Just started reading some of the prayers and already this book is one of my favorites. Each shows the author too. You can highlight your favorites.

Highly Enlightening!! Essential reading for all looking to strengthen their own personal Union with the Divine while learning from the habits of the Masters! I absolutely loved it!

Spencer Lewis does a great job describing what a prayer should be and what a prayer should not be. The author provides beautiful examples of prayers from mystics and various persons from all parts of human history. These prayers, provide deeper understanding of tge importance of prayer and allow the reader form his/her own templates for personal prayers.
