I love this bowl, it is very attractive.. I have it displayed on my dining room buffet..I washed it first in mild dish soap, dried it really well, let it sit for a couple hours, then I gave it a good coating of mineral oil, I let it sit overnight and allowed the bowl and lid to absorb the mineral oil to give the wood a good treatment.. It left the bowl with a nice sheen, and it will protect the bowl from becoming dry or dull looking.. I do this to all my wooden bowls, bread holders, trays etc., when I first buy them, and then repeat it once or twice a year to preserve the quality and the looks of the wooden pieces.. This is a really nice bowl of good quality.. If taken care of properly they will last a long time..
