Breville BFS600XL HealthSmart Food Steamer

Great product. Used other steamers and this one is a breeze. Brushed metal housing looks good in my kitchen with all the other brushed metal and cast metal devices. Cleans like a breeze, nice timer and loud beeper when water is low or time is up. Holds huge amount of food, you can make a full meal for 5 in it all by itself, meats on layer one, Veggies on layer 2 and rice and other stuff on level 3. Hard plastic levels, which have bounced around my tile kitchen floor from 14 yr old son doing dishes, has been on top and lower shelf of dishwasher with no distortion to plastic shapes. Good product. I like Breville products. They are not cheesy.

Was looking forward to receiving the steamer as I have purchased many Breville appliances and love them. However, this one is a great disappointment. It is very cheaply made (the two "legs" that rest on the countertop are so crooked that it looks ridiculous.) Very thin plastic.The plastic baskets have very small plastic hooks in which to attach the plates - my guess is that will break in a matter of weeks.As for the timer, good luck. Very difficult to adjust the time without pushing the button to the max of 50 minutes and then starting over.Also, the three levels seem attractive until you learn that the two baskets you are not using must be stored elsewhere (can't be stacked).I could go on, but my advice is stay away. Not worth the money or the aggravation.

I really like the steamer! I use it 2 - 3 times per week, and it does a nice job and is very easy to use. Only 2 downsides: the water gauge doesn't always work, but fortunately, since I had been using the steamer a while, I knew the right amount of water to add. The other thing is that since the plastic pieces are not dishwasher-safe, you have to hand wash them and it's hard to get the gunk off, especially if you steam fish. Other than that, I would highly recommend this steamer!

I received my steamer yesterday and I was so excited as I have many Breville products and love everyone of them. BUT I was shocked at the quality of this product. It is very cheaply made and I had a hard time trying to put it together because the plastic baskets were hard to fit. It really is not attractive and would not keep it out on my counter. Also everything is plastic and I was really not happy that its not EPA - who makes things that doesn't have them. You would think after paying $94 it would be exceptionally perfect. Think twice before buying this. I have had many steamers over the years but this is the first one that I found to be very cheap for the money.

I really do like this steamer. I have had no issues as of yet and have steamed a ton of food. For the price it seems that it will last a long time.

I am not completely satisfied because of the style and stacking of levels.... Due to the different sizes it will not stack easily or allow me to switch them around while steaming. I had used it and didnt think i could return or exchange for another style.

I did not realize that the tray were plastic. When I received it I was a little disappointed and was hesitant to use it. I finally tried it and must say that I made the best poached salmon in memory. I could not believe that this machine steamed vegetables and poached fish as well as it did. Very happy with it!

This is the second Breville steamer I have owned. The first one lasted about seven years; we use it at least 5 times a week. I just decided I wanted a new one, so now we have two. It is one of the handiest pieces of kitchen equipment we own. I can set it for the required cooking time, leave it to do its thing and concentrate on the rest of the meal. I love it.

This works well to cook my food in. Easy to use and maintain. Everything can be disassembled and reassembled for cleaning also.

Ok, this is a toy steamer. It is not good for serious cooking. - Water reservoir is too small - it takes 30 minutes for water level to drop from MAX to MIN. - The drip tray is even smaller - it gets overfilled in 10-15 minutes, and what you have in the bottom busket gets boiled, not steamed. Excess of water from the tray forms a puddle around the steamer, and I'm not sure if it's safe from an electric shock. - 3 buskets is a joke. You'll never get anything done on the third level.Well, from my experience, the best thing you'll get from this "cooking device" is: - cook raw meat and fish in the first level busket only - don't leave the thing alone for longer then 10 minutes, interrupt cooking by removing all the buskets (beware of hot steam, don't burn your hands) to empty the drip tray (and for that, place the cooker near a kitchen sink) - you can cook rice in a rice cooking bowl (included), even in the second level basket.In short, not recommended.

Very good. Do the job. It is my second one. The first was bought 5 years ago or so. Exactly the same model. It could have been ameliorated (e.g. screen with some light...). The plastic will probably crack like the first one after many uses.

This is the third steamer we have purchased because we use them a lot and they wear out, a great way of cooking veggies to keep flavour and so that they don't go mushy. This is probably the worst designed steamer that I have used, only the bottom basket fits on the bottom shelf so they can't be rotated for more even cooking and the steam has a hard time making it to the top layer - I will only use two layers now I know this. You can't even store the baskets neatly on top of the base because the bigger basket doesn't fit. On a positive note, it is nice a sturdy.

Nice machine works well just one thing I find there's to many pieces to store and wash each part is a hassle
