Q: Where it says 30 count (pack of 3), does this mean 90 pods (45 servings)?

Hi that is correct, each box makes 15drinks.So total 45 as you thought.

Q: Does anybody know if this machine takes the pods sold in aldi and lidl .

If it says compatible with Dolce Gusto, yes. However I never buy any but the official ones. I bought some compatible ones a few years ago. One exploded, filled the machine works with coffee grains, I had to buy a new machine.
