An excellent and comprehensive revision of an old favourite
I used to use the earlier editions but they were for the most part outdated and written at a time when Calculators were not in regular use if at all. This new version is far more modern in its approach and also more accessible. It also covers Statistics and Calculus, both of which were never incl;uded before. All in all and excellent rewrite..

Disappointing amount of errors for an 8th ed
Very disappointed with all the errors in the book. Wrong decimal places, different numbers used from test example questions to solution.Thankfully the solutions are expanded to see most of their work, but I still can't believe the amount of errors for an 8th edition. But it leads me to wonder what else could be wrong. As for the content, I'm not sure I could be prepared for my exams solely based on this book without previous education of the topics at hand. The material is presented in a very quick manner, more directed as a review rather than a teaching the basics kind of way.

I had much higher expectations
I am three chapters into this book and I am surprised at the number of very obvious mistakes in the examples and solutions. The material presented in this book is mostly only review for me and so I find it an easy read, but I think that someone who was trying to learn from this book might find otherwise. The explanations are not very precise in my opinion. For your information, I have never taken any examinations relevant to CoC for marine engineering so my review is not based on the pertinence of the material but rather on it's presentation and an obvious lack of reviewing which I find quite detracting. On the up side, there are many problems with solutions which help the learning process.
