Good starting kit, but not for those who are serious about fly tying.
Very good starting kit but it does not have enough materials. Many patterns in fly tying requires a bead, however this kit does not. Another key material is hackle. This set does not have good hackle. The vise is good but while you are tying your flies you may need to keep tightening it. Overall I think it is a good starting kit, but if you are looking for something more serious I advise a better kit or buy individually.

A hair jig
This was a great gift for my sixteen year old grandson. When he first got it, he made flies the entire weekend. He enjoys making and learning about different flies for fly fishing.

My Kit arrived missing stuff.
I was really disappointed that my first attempt at learning how to tie flies was complicated by the fact that the kit didn't arrive with everything that it claims to have in it. The "instruction" book is a waste of time. This is not something you can learn from a book. Which is why the DVD is a big help. But in the tools and tying guide that came with the kit it talks about using the hair stacker to even out deer/elk hair and no such tool was included. It also talks about tying a Wooley Bugger and using maribou which, again, was NOT included in the kit. So, while my motivation to learn to tie is in tact and I'll make use of the useful tools that DID come with the kit, but I can't stress enough that this is NOT the way for a beginner to learn. Because they wouldn't necessarily know what was missing from the kit. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I do and so...be forewarned. Kits, while convenient, are definitely not worth it if you are even a little serious about learning how to tie.TIGHT LINES

Great for beginners!
This kit comes with everything you need to tie flies. Another attribute worth mentioning is the size and portability of this kit. It would make a perfect hiking kit to bring with you on a pack in fishing trip. It’s light weight and would pack perfectly in a hiking pack.

Nice Beginners Set
Overall, a nice beginner's set. Comes with everything you need to get started tying your own flys. Good value for your money. My only complaint is that the vice moves around even when tightened down, but for the price, it is decent.
